Yesterday was a crazy full, super productive day and I totally got in bed with my laptop and proceeded to fall asleep before posting this but the #NaBloPoMo continues...
As mentioned here, my instagram has become my new home for lots of my looks that I have snapped while out and about and snaps of bits of my days, etc. so here are some of the latest from the last few weeks.
These snaps I had my rugrat take w/my cell phone are not doing it justice,
but it is just fabulous!
Boyfriend Jeans: Old ASOS Curve (similar here & here and here without the rips) Shoeties: (similar)
And the fact that you can wear it 4 different ways only ups its fab quotient! I am only wearing it in two of the ways here because I didn't put the faux fur collar on but even without, it is just a great coat.
I ordered this Black Girls Are Magic tee months back and like a lot of things, it arrived and it kinda got lost in the fray. Originally it was released in limited edition but it is currently available again, so I thought this was the perfect time to rock it.
The shirt was created by one of my favorite twitter peeps who goes by the name Auntie Peebz "in celebration of the beauty, intelligence and power of Black women everywhere". I love it!
There are so many casual work wear options but I would definitely reach for a good pair of dark wash jeans. So I rocked a pair, along with the peplum faux leather jacket from week one and the white shirt from week three (similar here & here) and added my fab leopard booties.
Faux leather has become a staple in my wardrobe and really one of my all time favorite fabrics to rock. And while leather may or may not have been a work option for you depending on the industry or type of job you have, I think today, with all the wonderful ways that leather, real and faux are being used, it is a perfect option for the office.
I originally was going to wear my blue faux leather top (seen here) with my perforated faux leather skirt (seen here & here) and a simple black blazer. But in the end I went with this Calvin Klein Marble Print Faux Leather Pleated Skirt (sold out/here in all black) for this weeks Fab Werk Wear challenge because on first look, it is not really obvious that the skirt is faux leather because of the marbelized print and it would be easy to rock it in even the most conservative of work environments.
Old Navy has always been one of my main spots for staple pieces but they have really been upping the game in recent times by offering super cute plus size pieces beyond the basics and crazy sales to boot.
Here are some looks put together from current stock that I love...need...want...
There's everything from animal print & stripes to skinny cords & chunky sweaters to sexy skirts & dresses! Lots of great pieces that come in a variety of colors (not all pictured) to mix and match and work all seasons.
What say you? Do you love...need...want these finds?
I am not a conservative person and that extends to my wardrobe choices, even in the workplace. And as a girl who will never shy away from prints, I decided to really max out the contrast of my look for this week's Fab Werk Wear challenge.
Coming from an investments background, things were for the most part pretty sterile as far as fashion went but I always expressed my personality with color, prints, jewelry, etc. And my Lands End trench coat makes everything seem more fab. It's such a great color. And speaking of this color, I found a yellow short peplum trench and HAD TO HAVE IT!
And because I already owned these fab floral pieces from the SS14 collection, I was definitely not surprised that this collection consisted of great fabrics, textures and design. I seriously love...need...want EVERYTHING!
I came across Fab Ellis' Fab Werkwear Series today & although I don't work in an office, I thought it would be fun to join in & flex my office "werkwear" style.
When I used to work in corporate America for the most part my attire was pretty office casual & consisted of simple silhouettes with splatters of my favorite things like pops of color & fun prints.
This would so be an easy, throw on and go Monday morning look. A classic white shirt, animal print skirt, pop of red and my trusty black faux leather peplum jacket.
Everything I am wearing is pretty old. The classic white shirt is from Lane Bryant. I love this similar style. It's a staple for any wardrobe and although I don't wear mine often, when I want that professional, pulled together vibe, I reach for it.
NOTE: Sadly the gorgeous, sparkly Unisa boots in this post only fit up to my knees & not completely over them which is a bummer because they are so cute in person. But if you want a scrunch boot they might work for you.
It's supposed to get back up to almost 80 degrees here in Chicago, so mother nature has some explaining to do because it is officially Fall in my mind.
And one of the best things about it for me fashion-wise it to be able to throw on the perfect get out and go "Fall Uniform", which consists of a pair of leggings, a long sweater and some boots.
One of my favorite boot styles is the over the knee style like the ones I rocked last year.
Of course this style can at times be a little tricky for we plus size girls because of the width of the boot shafts but thankfully brands are making more and more cute over the knee boots with wider calf areas*.
Here are 5 fab Fall Uniform perfect styles that I love...(click each for deets)
I love the colors and variety of textures (especially the animal print!!!).
What say you? Are you rocking over the knee boots?
*Notes: Most of these come in several colors and also some of these boots are not technically wide width but have a stretch back that can accommodate certain calf sizes, so always check the fine print.
I am so in Fall transition mode, so everything that I buy has to fit into that category of things.
Sole Society is having a wicked sale with some items that are up to 70% off and since I have put myself on a budget for the next few months but still want to add some new things to my Fall wardrobe, I am on the hunt for MAJOR deals, like for reals...
So, here are 5 pairs of Fall perfect but still Summer cool to rock, super on sale shoes that you must snag from Sole Society. They come in a variety of colors and patterns and I just think they are perfect for this time of year and the months to come.
This round toe pump comes in three colors and goes up to size 12 and the animal haircalf is so HAUTE.
The braided ankle strap is a gorgeous upgrade to the classic pointed toe heel. It comes in four colors and with a three inch heel, is very walk-able.
I love the contrasting straps and suede and animal print on this block heel sandal. They come in three colors and I would so throw on a pair of tights or even socks when it gets a little cool and rock these beauties.
And of course I had to have a couple of pairs of flats in the mix. These suede flats with the stitching at the toe come in three colors and I love how the stitching adds that subtle "little something".
Last but not least, are the asymmetrical strap flats with the contrast piping. It comes in three styles, two neutrals and a funky blue and white print.
And currently at under $35 each, these are steals!!
Who would have thought how much quilted fashion would take off? I mean normally when you think of the fabrication, you think of well quilts. But I am loving that fashion has embraced it and in some pretty fab ways, like this white quilted midi skirt for instance.
While I am a fan of all the KUWTK crew for various reasons, Khloe is without a doubt my fav and her style evolution over the past couple of years has been a fun thing to witness.
I considered wearing the skirt from this post featuring me rocking Kim Kardashion's style because with the exception of the mesh hem, it's a pretty good match to what Khloe wore but I went with this knit faux wrap skirt (last seen here), which I love, mainly because I love the sexy drape of it.
