{Fab Five} For the Weekend Vol. 15

Hey Delights!

Welcome to the first Fab Five For the Weekend of 2018! I am so excited for this year. Well I am excited for every single day that I have breath but there is just something different in the air. Something almost magical. And I am just taking it in and not questioning it and rolling with it because I need all the magic I can get. You may have noticed that I have been a little quiet around here. I have been dealing with some personal muck but I actually wrote this post over 2 weeks ago so here it is, a little earlier in the week than normal but here nonetheless.

Oh and the new blog space is dropping on Wordpress as mentioned in my January To Do List. I went with Bluehost as my because so many of my favorite sites use it, so I feel confident that it will be a good fit for my site.

Wear: Although it is still very much winter, we like so many other cities have had almost 60 degree weather in Chicago from time to time this winter. And then a day later we could easily get a bunch of snow. There is no predicting anything with the weather. And because even in the midst of the coldest of coldest days I am liable to be a sweaty mess, the key for me is always to layer, layer...player...

So on one such warmer day, I wore the shut your mouth, I am not here for it N O P E Sweatshirt (featured here) under my always come though faux leather cape.

{What I Wore} Road Trip Vibe: Puff Sleeves & Duck Boots

Hey Delights!

I am so in love with this puff sleeve sweater! I had debated getting it for weeks and one day I walked into Eloquii and finally just snagged it in red and I totally side eyed myself the entire time I first wore it for not getting it sooner. It is beautiful and so soft and elegant. It is currently 50% off & available in 4 colors and I think I am going to get it in the charcoal heather and possibly the ivory leaf color also.

{What I Wore} Flocked Velvet

Hey Delights!

I rocked this fabulous Gabby Skye Sleeveless Flocked Dress from my Gwynnie Bee closet back in October, hence the mask and I totally forgot to share it here. It is an amazing piece. This look was my idea of a chic-o-ween vibe and I rocked my pleated sleeve Lauren Ralph Lauren top (last seen here) under it for a bit of added drama.

{What I Wore} Velvet Puff Sleeves 80's Realness

Hey Delights!

I had a blast celebrating the launch of Halfstack Magazine's annual giving issue at the Chicago Eloquii store yesterday. I wore this amazing puff sleeve velvet dress that gave me all the 80's vibes that I so love. I actually walked pass this dress initially when I saw (just writing that and the reminder that we have an actual Eloquii store here in Chicago made me 😍). But anyway, I thought it was a little too matronly for me but I eventually tried it on and fell completely in love with it. So remember to always try things on, even if they don't seem like they are your style or even if you are unsure if the size will fit you, TRY IT ON!

There is only one thing that I wish was different about this dress. And that is that the puffs in the sleeve were even more Dominique Deveraux big and fabulous!😝

{What I Wore} All Velvet Everything

Hey Delights!

I finally rocked this amazing black velvet dress by Ellen Tracy that has been sitting in my closet for at least a year and a half. The dress is a size 16, which I believe is the highest size that the brand stocks and although I am not a size 18/20, it fits me perfectly. I found the same dress in this exact size here.

My AMAZING blue velvet boots are currently on sale for less than $18! So I ordered them in the wine color which I had been debating about for weeks but at this price, it was a no brainer.

{What I Wore} Deer Heart

Hey Delights!

If you saw my Christmas decor it’s probably pretty obvious that I am obsessed with deer, so this sweater should come as no surprise to you. While I get extra corny with my ugly Christmas sweater, for my everyday seasonal sweaters, like the Style & Co embellished sweater I am rocking here and the one I wore here, I like to keep it kitschy but cute but not over the top.

Here are some similar cute styles that I am currently loving. I recently purchased the off the shoulder white one. It is my first purchase from one of the foreign brands that I have been wanting to check out for awhile now, so I will definitely share it & size deets, etc when it arrives.

{Five Fab} For the Weekend Vol. 14

Happy Weekend Delights!

I am alternately super excited and kinda bummed that we are basically already into November already. Of course I am excited because it's one of my favorite months but man is it going fast. As I write this, we are already one week down and these days are getting darker sooner, thanks day light savings time fall back. And I just want it to go a little slower. Because there is so much that I want to do these next 2 months of 2017.

I was working on my vision board and woahh...I mentioned in episode 16 of the CurvaCast how amped up I currently am and well...let's just say that I am going big or going bigger from here on out.

{What I Wore} Empowered To The Tee

Hey Delights!

I love inspirational quotes and sayings and I knew the second that I saw this empowerment t-shirt that I had to add it to my collection. I don't know about you, but I love being underestimated.

I love people telling me that I can't do something. It is the ultimate fuel for me. Not so much that I want to be able to tell them "ha fool, you don't know me" when I actually do what they say that I can't or shouldn't, it's more about proving to myself that I am capable beyond any limitations, self imposed or otherwise.

{What I Wore} Blues & Bronzy Gold

Hey Delights!

Since we basically skipped Fall and went straight to Winter here in Chicago I have been loving on this peplum cape jacket (last seen here) big time. It has been perfectly warm during these days of temps between 30 and 40+ degrees but not so warm that I am a sweaty mess out on these streets.

{What I Wore} Peplum Caped Pea Coat + Sparkle

Hey Delights!

I am going to see my all time favorite artist, Janet Jackson tonight and I am so excited. Janet has always held a very special place in my heart. Growing up, her role as Penny on Good Times was the only "ME" that I saw on television and I have loved her since.  The last time that I saw her in concert was in 2011 so needless to say, I am stoked to get to see her doing her thing once again.

The look that I rocked yesterday was somewhat of a homage to the whole Rhythm Nation vibe. I have already shared in the video here how I feel about this peplum cape jacket . It is just 💙.

I am not one of those people who think that sequins are only for "special occasions". The way I look at it, every day that I am alive is a special occasion, so I wear my sequin jeans (seen here) like I do any other pair of pants. I am thinking about adding these blue sequin pull ons to my arsenal and I also featured a couple of other cute options on my liketoknow.it page.

These boots are an old favorite from Fergalicious that I have pulled out every year since I purchased them. They are biker chic cool, great with jeans and the heel height makes them just perfect for every day.

I am so EXCITED for tonight and I will of course be sharing some of tonight's concert on my social media pages, so you know what to do! 👇

{What I Wore} Head to Toe Au Faux + The Perfect LBD For EVERY Body

Hey Delights!

I attended a pre-opening event & tour of the new Eloquii Chicago store and a couple of weeks later I attended the official grand opening. I pulled out my fab Violeta by Mango faux leather cape & rocked a gorgeous asymmetrical one shoulder faux leather top with a vintage Eloquii skirt from a year or so ago & some oldie but goodie slinkback shoeties (similar style available in 2 colors).

All the blogger babes were there and I had such a great time styling my cousin & smiling at the transformation that took place for her in the dressing room. A little backstory. My cousin Sonya's style is relatively conservative but I knew the moment that I invited her to the event that I was going to get her to try some new things.

Hey Delights!

The Gwynnie Bee closet is always overflowing with fabulous frocks for any occasion but I especially love this time of  the year when I get to rock pieces like this Robbie Bee fit and flare dress (similar style).  I am living for everything velvet & this dress is beautifully framed in it & while that is a great detail on its own, the textured polka dots add a whole other level of fab to it.

It was in the 50's & chilly in Chicago so I pulled out some tights and layered this bomb Design History velvet bomber under my faux leather cape (last seen here) and added a pop of color with my silver heels (last seen here).

Hey Delights!

The Gwynnie Bee love continues! In case you are new around these parts and don't know, I have been a Gwynnie Bee girl since 2012 when I rocked this amazing batwing dress and peplum hounds tooth top from my first box.  Fast forward to 2017 and I have been werking the most beautiful dresses from them all summer long. And this gorgeous Taylor floral fit & flare dress is the most recent one.
I paired it with pops of pink with my fabulous pink ruffle mid heels & pink fold over purse (c/o Stitchfix similar) (last seen here).  These shoes make me smile so hard and I get so many compliments every time I wear them. They are just so fun. They also come in a sparkly silver color that I just ordered (on sale for $22).

Hey Delights!

I purchased this metallic faux leather ruffle top a few weeks back during my first visit to the brand new Chicago Eloquii store. The skirt I am wearing was a part of the Essie x Kelly FTF collaboration with Fashion to Figure that I have had for months. And the shoes are from our wedding three years ago. And the bag is an old Coach favorite, the Chelsea Crossbody in Pebbled Leather (last seen here & currently available in 5 colors). It's on the smaller side but holds a ton of stuff.

I will legit be wearing this top as much as possible over the coming 'ber months, well as soon as the weather starts acting right. I mean it's supposed to be 90 degrees in Chicago tomorrow. No bueno. I am ready for Fall and dare I say it? {whispers....Winter}😶

Anyways, here are a few metallic skirts and silver shoes that are currently available that I love.

Hey Delights!

I purchased these soft pink crepe ankle grazer cigarette pants (in a pretty lilac) pretty much on a whim and I wore them along with the matching jacket back in February as my Valentine's Day look.

(side note on that look: it was FREEZING & I shoot this look myself so it took longer than it would if someone else was behind the camera but you know we bloggers...we just make ish happen)

My Eloquii family gifted me this amazing tie front kimono wrap top and I knew it would be perfect with these pants. And the print is a great example of how well Eloquii does prints. The colors are unexpected but just work.

Hey Delights!

I am so excited to share with you that the first Eloquii store in the Midwest is opening here in Chicago on Thursday and it is going to be amazing! We celebrated with a blogger breakfast in a gorgeous suite at The Gwen and a tour of the store located at The Shops at North Bridge on Michigan Avenue. {more on that to come}.

I rocked this gorgeous orange ruffle overlay wrap dress (c/o) and played up it's beautiful color with these vibrant pink ruffle mid heels and I seriously felt amazing! It is such a great color combo.

Hey Fab! As per our disclosure policy, we use affiliate links that may result in compensation if you click links & make purchases. By doing so, you help to keep this blog going & I appreciate & thank you for it.

Hey Delights!

Yes...by now you know that the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is in full effect because you have seen it posted EVERYWHERE by all your favorite bloggers & sites.  And yes, you may actually be annoyed by all the how to shop (side eye), shop before they are gone posts. And I feel ya....I feel ya.

But it's a good sale and I personally LOVE a good sale.  And while I wont post non stop about it, I am doing the same as I have done previously, sharing a few picks that I think would rock your late Summer/Fall wardrobe. And since the sale runs through August 6th, I will probably share additional finds on my social channels from time to time.

I personally will be picking up a few things utilizing Nordstrom's free shipping & my of course my fave shopping tool EVER, order online & pick up in store 💃.

Fall is without a doubt my favorite time of the year and with these last few extra hot and humid days, I am actually kinda ready for it to be here. So I have been looking at pieces to layer, jeans, booties and darker, richer colors.

And while there are always lots of Nordstrom plus size options, there aren't a lot that I was feeling included in the sale but there are a couple of really cute jeans, like these from Kut From The Cloth that I am digging and lots of accessories that I LOVE like this burgundy tote.

Anyway, all of my picks are under  $100 and I think they would make great additions to your wardrobe.

What say you? Have you shopped the Nordstrom Anniversay Sale?

Hey Fab! As per our disclosure policy, we use affiliate links that may result in compensation if you click links & make purchases. By doing so, you help to keep this blog going & I appreciate & thank you for it.

Hey Delights!

I am getting back in the groove of  early morning kid detail now that the wee one is here and this morning I only forgot one thing: the last minute stop, stare, adjust before we walked out the door.

So needless to say, once we finally got on our way and I looked at her, I realized that she had toothpaste all around her mouth. 😱 And since it was like 6:30 in the morning, I didn't take my purse with me, which has essentially the tools in it to survive almost any natural disaster, we made do with a quick hand wipe and lip balm.

LOL...anyway, as I mentioned, it was early. Way earlier than I normally start my days, so I grabbed two pieces that required nothing of me other than that I put them on, a lace dress (similar in 3 colors) that I have had forever and my Victoria Beckham x Target lace bomber jacket (last seen here with a maxi dress).
