{Event} Celebrate Plus Size Fashion & Halfstack Magazine's Giving Issue

Hey Delights!

I am excited to invite those of you in the Chicagoland area to join us for a fun event with Halfstack Magazine at the Chicago Eloquii store at The Shops at North Bridge this Saturday, December 16th. Halfstack Magazine is an awesome independent culture magazine that showcases, brands, musicians, designers, boutiques, artists, local entrepreneurs & social changers in Chicago.

As per our disclosure policy, we use affiliate links that may result in compensation if you click links & make purchases.

They interviewed moi and some of my blogger boos and invited us to participate in their "Giving Issue" & celebrate it with a shopping and style soiree at Eloquii.

This will of course be a fun time with giveaways, sweets &  delicious drinks and there will also be a few surprises.😉

I seriously still feel giddy every time I walk into Eloquii. It is just so great that we have an actual brick and mortar store here in Chicago & it is fabulous of them to support other local Chicago brands by hosting this event.

So kudos to them.

And it is the perfect time to snag those holiday looks like the Metallic Knit Dress I am rocking above, so come and shop, dance and laugh with us.

When: Saturday, Dec 16th from 1pm - 4pm

{What I Wore} Lush Lounging

Dress Barn gifted me these pieces but don't get it twisted, the opinions are all mine😍.

Hey Delights!

The fabs at Dress Barn sent me this amazing velour hoodie and velour pants from their dbSunday line and I put them on this morning because it is so cold in my apartment due to the crazy temps in Chicago and they are soooo 💃.

If you saw me un-box them last night on my Snapchat or Instagram stories (currently still up), then you know that I was instantly excited by how pretty and soft they are when I first saw & touched them.

I am wearing the "mood plum" color but it also comes in black and a gorgeous navy.  And they are seriously so lush and warm and so perfect for these colder days that I had to take a break from lounging to share it with you guys 😊.  They come in both plus & straight sizes and would definitely make a great holiday gift.

{Fashion} High vs Low - Which Would You Buy? | Fisherman Knit Sweater

Hey Delights!

You guys know that I am obsessed with the cold shoulder style so when I saw this Rachel Rachel Roy Curvy fisherman knit sweater in Macy's the other day I instantly fell in love with it. Today I was browsing my usual online shopping spots and came across this similar version from FForever21.

The Rachel Rachel Roy version is a machine washable cotton/nylon/wool blend and also comes in deep, rich red.  It is currently on sale but it is still almost twice the price of the Forever21 version, which is not a Forever21 brand but from one of the many brands that they are featuring as of late. It is 100% acrylic & hand wash only.

The CurvaCast Episode 16: An Interview, Inspiration, Rants, Travel & A Plea To Women

Hey Delights!

Welcome back to another episode of The CurvaCast. It's been a minute so I am sharing quite a bit in this episode of the CurvaCast. As mentioned in my Universal Standard giveaway post, there are clips from my interview with Alexandra Walden, the co-founder of Universal Standard. {HintI also mention the answer to the giveaway during the podcast around minute 39}, so if you missed my Instagram stories, you can find it there to enter.😊
this episode. As mentioned in my

I went to see Janet Jackson in concert and she was AMAZING! I haven't danced as much as I did that night in a very long time. And because it was Janet, I had to go with a rocker chic but movable vibe, so I rocked my one shoulder faux leather top again (last seen here). Get links to recreate this vibe on my liketoknow.it page.

There are also a couple of travel tips, recaps of the amazing events that I have been to and how they have inspired me. And a rant about brands who blow it with bogus promotions, and how all who appear woke, ain't and the need for women to stop it with the self deprecation and a few other things.

{Giveaway} Enter to Win a $200 Universal Standard Gift Card Code

Hey Delights!

update: The answer to this giveaway was mentioned here.

As mentioned here & during my Instagram stories visit to the Universal Standard pop-up shop at Nordstrom, I have partnered with Universal Standard to host this awesome giveaway.  I also spent some time chatting with the brands co-founder Alex Waldman. We talked about everything from why they created the brand to what new things we will see from the brand and lots more in between. Stay tuned for more of that conversation on the next CurvaCast.

At the pop-up I tried on some of the pieces that I mentioned here, like the twist cut out faux leather top and this gorgeous tie front dress, a piece that is amazing on every single body that I have seen it on.

{Events} Universal Standard Model Search & Pop-Up Shop

Hey Delights!

Universal Standard has partnered with Nordstrom to bring their unique fashion aesthetic to the masses via pop-up shops and a model search that is arriving here in Chicago this week, Oct 26-29. The pop-up shop will be at Nordstrom on Michigan Avenue and you can get the details of the model search that is taking place on Sunday, Oct 29th here. They are on a 12 city tour and Chicago is the 9th stop, so check them out to see if they are coming to your town.

I love the minimalist, cool style of the brand. The pieces are like these cool canvases that you can really amp up or just rock solo and I can't wait to get a few of them on my body. Here are some current faves that can be found at Nordstrom.

I will be chatting with the co-founder of Universal Standard, Alexandra Waldman and sharing looks from the pop-up TODAY, Thursday, Oct 26 via my Instagram stories. So make sure that you check it out because I will also be hosting a $200 gift card giveaway starting tomorrow, and you will only know the answers to the giveaway question required to enter to win if you watch 😤.

{What I Wore} Head to Toe Au Faux + The Perfect LBD For EVERY Body

Hey Delights!

I attended a pre-opening event & tour of the new Eloquii Chicago store and a couple of weeks later I attended the official grand opening. I pulled out my fab Violeta by Mango faux leather cape & rocked a gorgeous asymmetrical one shoulder faux leather top with a vintage Eloquii skirt from a year or so ago & some oldie but goodie slinkback shoeties (similar style available in 2 colors).

All the blogger babes were there and I had such a great time styling my cousin & smiling at the transformation that took place for her in the dressing room. A little backstory. My cousin Sonya's style is relatively conservative but I knew the moment that I invited her to the event that I was going to get her to try some new things.

Hey Delights!

The Gwynnie Bee closet is always overflowing with fabulous frocks for any occasion but I especially love this time of  the year when I get to rock pieces like this Robbie Bee fit and flare dress (similar style).  I am living for everything velvet & this dress is beautifully framed in it & while that is a great detail on its own, the textured polka dots add a whole other level of fab to it.

It was in the 50's & chilly in Chicago so I pulled out some tights and layered this bomb Design History velvet bomber under my faux leather cape (last seen here) and added a pop of color with my silver heels (last seen here).

Hey Delights!

The Gwynnie Bee love continues! In case you are new around these parts and don't know, I have been a Gwynnie Bee girl since 2012 when I rocked this amazing batwing dress and peplum hounds tooth top from my first box.  Fast forward to 2017 and I have been werking the most beautiful dresses from them all summer long. And this gorgeous Taylor floral fit & flare dress is the most recent one.
I paired it with pops of pink with my fabulous pink ruffle mid heels & pink fold over purse (c/o Stitchfix similar) (last seen here).  These shoes make me smile so hard and I get so many compliments every time I wear them. They are just so fun. They also come in a sparkly silver color that I just ordered (on sale for $22).

Hey Delights!

One of the pieces in my wardrobe that I love the most, my faux leather cape {seen here & here} is from Violeta by Mango.  I also own a faux shearling jacket, faux leather skirt & top from the brand.

And while the brand doesn't seem to get much hype from bloggers, every season they surprise and inspire me. I mean look at this pearl faux leather biker jacket!! GAHHH! Violeta by Mango does trends & elevate traditional pieces {like these wardrobe staples I featured} in a very classy way that I really appreciate.

And their new F/W 2017 collection is so full of texture and color and a sense of whimsy and I LOVE IT!
Here are a few picks from the pieces/looks that are so MAJOR.

Hey Fab! As per our disclosure policy, we use affiliate links that may result in compensation if you click links & make purchases. By doing so, you help to keep this blog going & I appreciate & thank you for it.

Hey Delights!

As I mentioned here, we welcomed the new Eloquii store to Chicago last week and if you are following me on Snapchat or Instagram then you know that I completely fell IN LOVE with both of these coats.

There is no secret around here that I am obsessed with capes. Like OBSESSED. I mean, the love is real, REAL. SooOO of course I was instantly drawn to both of these beauties.

This tie neck cape coat is such an amazing piece. It has this great relaxed cocoon but structured vibe to it and the color is so gorgeous. And that tie neck adds such a classy touch to it. It is a great transitioning piece for Fall and Winter. For Fall I would probably rock it like I did here, with a thick, cable knit cardigan sweater. And for winter, I would put a jacket under it like I did here with my faux suede piece.
The details of my clothes under the coat are here.

And this peplum cape jacket! OHHH MYY GAWDDD!

We celebrated with a blogger breakfast in a gorgeous suite at The Gwen and a tour of the store located at The Shops at North Bridge on Michigan Avenue. {more on that to come}.

I rocked this gorgeous orange ruffle overlay wrap dress (c/o) and played up it's beautiful color with these vibrant pink ruffle mid heels and I seriously felt amazing! It is such a great color combo.

And since delivery is always quick, I always have something new to rock which makes getting dressed sooo easy. And that is exactly how I like it to be.💃

The palm print on this London Times beauty is just so colorful and fun. I love the fact that it has that pretty gold zipper up the front. I hate struggling with back zippers and it is a great detail.

{What I Wore} Rompin' in Retro Florals + Video Review

Hey Fab! As per our disclosure policy, we use affiliate links that may result in compensation if you click links & make purchases.

Hey Delights!

I have always in my heart of hearts considered myself a 60's hippie chick, so this retro floral romper appealed to me instantly. I purchased this back in April the day the Victoria Beckham for Target collection dropped, so of course I paid full price, and I am a little peeved that it along with other pieces of the collection are majorly marked down and it is currently on clearance for $9.

Yep. Nine. Dollars.

Hey Fab! As per our disclosure policy, we use affiliate links that may result in compensation if you click links & make purchases.

Hey Delights!

When this dress first arrived from my Gwynnie Bee closet I was taken aback for 2.5 seconds at how bright it was because the photos of it didn't do it's bright hues justice. It is literally a pastel party in a dress.  Someone said to me that seeing me in it instantly made him feel happier and I had to agree. This Gabby Skye dress is such a bright, easy wearing, happy piece.

The brand although not new, is new to me and this is the first but definitely not the last piece of theirs that I will wear. You can find lots of gorgeous dresses here and Lane Bryant also sells certain styles.

The CurvaCast Episode 14: Monif C Swim @ Forever 21, Gabourey Sidibe,Ashley Graham & Instagram Faves

Hey Fab! As per our disclosure policy, we use affiliate links that may result in compensation if you click links & make purchases.

Hey Delights!

I know that it has been a minute since I've done a podcast but now that I have my voice back I am
excited to come to you with a new episode, The 14th episode actually of The CurvaCast.

This is a short but sweet episode but there are several things that I wanted to share with you guys, in particular what I woke up to this morning.

I woke this morning to an email from Forever 21 announcing that they are selling swimsuits from Monif C so of course I had to gab a little bit about that. I literally recorded the podcast minutes after I saw the news, so basically we have F21 & Monif to thank for this episode 😆. And in case you did not know, some of Monif C's swimsuits are also available on ASOS

Also both Gabourey Sidibe & Ashley Graham currently have new books out. Gabi's book is titled "This Is Just My Face: Try Not to Stare" and I have already finished it so I share my thoughts on it. And Ashley's book is titled "A New Model: What Confidence, Beauty, and Power Really Look Like".

Like seriously, are we not living in an awesome time of exposure for plus size women?💃

Anyway, to wrap things up, I share & talk a bit about two Instagram accounts, Jonquelart and NÜNUDE that I am currently loving and I think you will too.

{What I Wore} Bell Sleeves & Ripped Jeans

Hey Fab! As per our disclosure policy, we use affiliate links that may result in compensation if you click links & make purchases.

Spring has finally arrived in Chicago and I was able to finally pull out that super cute stripped bell sleeved tee I purchased in January and it was definitely a hit on the streets.

I have worn these ripped jeans so much that I have had to cut some of the rips off.  So I am about to add a couple more pairs to my arsenal because I love the style, although you will not see me in the ones where the entire knee or whole thigh is out. For me that's overkill. And if you like the style but really don't want to show any flesh this patched pair or lace knee pair might be more your speed.

Plus Size {Fashion} Pick of The Day | #VBxTarget Black Calla Lily Satin Ruffle Hem Dress

Hey Fab! As per our disclosure policy, we use affiliate links that may result in compensation if you click links & make purchases.

Hey Delights!

Did you shop the Victoria Beckham for Target collection? I did but only online because while in some cities plus sizes were readily available in store, in my city it was not (click here to check for plus size in store in your city),

But anyway, I love the mod, laid back, feminine style of the collection, so I purchased a few pieces, like the Blue Stripe Poplin Gathered Waist Dress & the Retro Floral Tie Waist Romper.

But I chose the Black Calla Lily Satin Ruffle Hem Dress as my #PlusSizePick because I have seen it on so many different body shapes and it looks gorgeous on EVERYONE!
I have seen/read a few things from those who shopped in store about sizes and thought I would share the biggest one with you ladies. The sizing may be a bit tricky, mainly in the pants, so make sure you check out the size chart.

Some pieces have of course already sold out, so if you are on the fence about buying, I would suggest that you just jump over it and get what you are eyeing. Target has the best shipping, free over $25 and returning things is easy.

Anyway, I am excited to get the pieces I ordered and I will of course share them on le blog!
