{What I Wore} Layered Capes

Hey Fabs!

It's no secret that I am obsessed with capes. And after purchasing my faux leather cape & reviewing my cape inventory, yes you read that right, I realized that there were two styles I hadn't rocked yet; a suede cape (like this one) and a long caped dress (although I do have this short cape maxi dress).

So when I saw this red Adrianna Papell caped sheath dress, which I had seen previously in black and white, I knew that it was finally calling for me to take it for a spin. I mean tis the season for delicious red dresses, no?

And I figured if you are wearing a caped dress, what could be better to wear over it than another cape?

{What I Wore} Rockin' Pleats and Plaid

Hey Fabs!

As I wrote about in my Adam Lippes for Target #PlusSizePick's post, this plaid duster was a must have.  It's obviously a great looking piece but what I was not expecting, was that it would be made of such a great material. This is definitely a cool weather piece, made of heavy weight sweater material and it has been perfect layered over my jackets on these cool Fall days.

{Fashion Challenge} 1 Dress. 2 Girls. 3 Ways to Rock It | High Neck Scuba Swing Dress

He Fabs!

Zadry and I are back with another 1 Dress. 2 Girls. 3 Ways to Rock It challenge and although I have already posted a look rocking this dress, I thought it would be a perfect option for both of our bodies.

This ASOS Curve High Neck Scuba Swing Dress is such a great piece. The color is such a fun pop of what I guess you would call tomato red, although most of the time it photographs pretty orange.

Whatever you call the color, I love what an easy wearing piece it is.

I didn't shoot a look featuring pants or leggings but expect to see me also rocking this over pieces like my camo & faux leather leggings.

{What I Wore} Shift Dressing In Royal Blue

Hey Fabs!

I have been feeling crazy excited about shift dresses lately (previous one here) and royal blue, well we know it's my thang, so when this Taylor Dresses number from my Gwynnie Bee closet arrived, I loved it immediately.

{What I Wore} Nothing But A Blue Dress Thang Baby

Hey Fabs!

This Eloquii dress was a #PlusSizePick way back in February when Rumor Wilson rocked it. And although I did not end up buying it, I loved it every time that I saw someone working it, so when it showed up at Rent The Runway, I had to queue it and give it a whirl.

And what a whirl inspiring dress it is, It is so friggin AWESOME! It is incredibly well made of a really substantial scuba material and the color is so beautiful in person.

{What I Wore} Multi Striped Pleated Maxi Dress

This gorgeous Lane Bryant dress was a Mother's Day gift from Joe & I had been holding it for an occasion that I deemed worthy of it.

But my life has been pretty summer casual & laid back and we don't have any fancy plans in the works, so I decided to just rock it before the weather switches up & I can't.

So I wore it one lovely Saturday when I went to Randolph Street Market and afterwards I had my rugrat meet up with me to snap some pics of it.

{Five Fab} Pieces From Emme's Plus Size Style Ideel Collaboration

Hey Lovelies!

Note: The second collection consisting of prints has posted and the third collection consisting of Vivid Brights & Florals will launch March 9th!

I have written before about ideel being one of my favorite online shopping haunts so I am excited to see that they have tapped plus supermodel Emme to curate three collections.

The first collection contains 65 pieces and is all about the classic colors black and white.

Here are a five fab pieces from the first collection that I love.

{What I Wore} Casual Layered Miami Beach Style

When I booked the trip to Miami to celebrate my rugrat's 21st birthday, the weather was predicted to be in the 80's so I planned a casual wardrobe that consisted mainly of simple dresses & seperates.

As with my previous Miami style post, I am wearing pieces from Rebdolls, a two piece crop set to be exact under a split maxi t-shirt dress and my fav new shoes, my white perforated mules from Shoedazzle. (You can check this look out in motion here on my instagram page)

{What I Wore} Miami Beach Style: Bodycon + Faux Fur

Hey Lovelies!

Before leaving for Miami, I was dealing with some kind of a bug, a bug that I thought I had conquered because I felt pretty good the entire time I was there.

But fast forward to Sunday and my return to Chicago and within hours of my stepping on the ice cold concrete, my throat started hurting again, my nose started running and Monday night brought the return of hacking my brain out.

So apparently my body has decided to revolt against wellness in protest of me forcing it to live in this coldness. Bwaaaa....Spring! I need you!

Sigh...anyway, the weather in Miami was definitely colder than normal but I was able to rock the pieces that I packed and I layered this Rebdolls dress under my AnnaFesta faux fur capelet (last seen here).

{What I Wore} Sneak Peek: Miami Beach Style

Hello Lovelies!

I just returned from Miami with my rugrat celebrating her 21st birthday and as it has been in lots of other parts of the country, it was cooler than normal in Miami while we were there.

So, while I didn't get to rock a bathing suit, I did pull out a couple of layered warmer weather looks to rock. I am of course currently in post vacation, catch up mode but wanted to drop a little sneak peek.

More to come...

{Rock} Winter White + Gold Valentine's Day Style

Hello Lovelies!

Look two of my Valentine's Day style feature is as promised,
completely different from look one, the rocker chic vibe.

I felt very "The Lady Loves Couture" in this look. Both my faux fur capelet & zipper pencil skirt are from AnnaFesta, an independent brand that I have featured before (herehere & here).

{What I Wore} Plaid: The Key To My Heart

Plaid is EVERYTHING this year and I am loving it!

I looked at this plaid pencil skirt on multiple occasions for over 2 weeks before I actually added it to my cart and purchased it and silly me...I should not have hesitated at all.

{My Style} Fab Werkwear Series:| Leather

Faux leather has become a staple in my wardrobe and really one of my all time favorite fabrics to rock. And while leather may or may not have been a work option for you depending on the industry or type of job you have, I think today, with all the wonderful ways that leather, real and faux are being used, it is a perfect option for the office.

Here are a few examples. I especially love this faux leather trim dress.

I originally was going to wear my blue faux leather top (seen here) with my perforated faux leather skirt (seen herehere) and a simple black blazer.  But in the end I went with this Calvin Klein Marble Print Faux Leather Pleated Skirt (sold out/here in all black) for this weeks Fab Werk Wear challenge because on first look, it is not really obvious that the skirt is faux leather because of the marbelized print and it would be easy to rock it in even the most conservative of work environments.

{My Style} Fab Werkwear Series:| Rockin' Prints

I am not a conservative person and that extends to my wardrobe choices, even in the workplace.  And as a girl who will never shy away from prints, I decided to really max out the contrast of my look for this week's Fab Werk Wear challenge.

Coming from an investments background, things were for the most part pretty sterile as far as fashion went but I always expressed my personality with color, prints, jewelry, etc. And my Lands End trench coat makes everything seem more fab. It's such a great color. And speaking of this color, I found a yellow short peplum trench and HAD TO HAVE IT!

#Rock10For30 {Fashion} Challenge Recap: Days 1-10

As I mentioned at the start of this round 2 of #Rock10For30, unlike round 1, where I chose pieces like leggings and a basic black dress that was easily convertible, I didn't want to choose pieces that were all too easy to work with.

I originally was going to use a classic white long sleeved shirt and a classic blazer, which are pieces that you can of course easily remix in multiple ways but  it's supposed to be a challenge, right?

Here's a recap of the first 10, well 9 looks actually since there wasn't a day 8!

So, now that I have worn all of the 10 pieces at least once, I am hoping to use some of them in fun, unexpected ways going forward.

Day 10 #Rock10For30 {Fashion} Challenge | Maxi Now Midi + Peplum

Now that I have worn all of the 10 pieces, this is where the challenge really calls for a little creativity, so today I hiked the maxi dress up with a belt and made it more of a midi dress and wore the pink peplum top over it.

Dress: Old Navy | Trench (last seen here + similar) | Wedges
 Bag: H&M (similar) | Necklace/Earrings Set

The dress originally had a pretty high split up the side, as you can kinda see here, but today I sewed it up, so that I could get more flexibility out of it.

Days 8 & 9: #Rock10For30 {Fashion} Challenge | Birthday Suit + OrangeLace

Yesterday was day 8 of this challenge and besides the gym clothes that I wore in the morning, I spent the majority of the day in bed getting some much needed rest. I did say that my b-day would be laid back, didn't I? LOL

Anyway, I will make up for the day spent in my birthday suit at the end of this challenge.

It's like bonus, not bonus. Work with me.

Today it was a balmy 50ish degrees most of the day (#sideeye) and I finally wore this deliciously orange lace skirt, which is pretty awesome.

Skirt | Jacket | Satchel | Spiked Flats | Necklace (last seen here) | Rings: Coach

Side note: I am lucky to have any pics where I am not looking crazy, like this because my kid and I laughed so much during this shoot. Her mama needed some laughs. I am so grateful for her.

While I love this skirt, I found as I mentioned before during one of my dressing room posts featuring eloquii 1.0, the lining is slightly longer than the actual skirt. I assume the pieces are made this way to account for hips & butt but on me, it just tends to hang, so I will have to put a couple of stitches along the seams to connect the lining to the skirt.

Check out the rules of engagement for this challenge here!

{Fashion} Challenge: #Rock10For30 Day 2 Look - Maxi Dress + Floral & Striped Flats

Day 2 and we are still deep in winter/spring but I wore the maxi dress (w/a pair of leggings under it for a bit of warmth) and the white blazer.

I love my new flats! The combination of the stripes and flowers is fabu!

{Rock}'n A Custom Parental Advisory Graphic T-Shirt

By now you have seen the parental advisory graphic shirts EVERYWHERE. Right?

Designer Alexander Wang has a high end sheer version and they have been popping up all over the place, on more affordable t shirt versionssweatshirts and even on sunglasses.

And while I thought it was cute to take something as simple as the warning put on music labels and make it pop culture cute, that whole "explicit content" thing just didn't quite fit for me.

So I created my own with a more appropriate tag line ;)
