{Life} How A Planner & Stickers Are Changing My Life

Hey Delights!

I have really been working on purging and organizing my life and while I probably buy 2 or more planners most years, I rarely ended up using them which was really frustrating. At the beginning of 2017 I purchased a larger full year planner but a month or so ago, I found the matching smaller version below that goes from July 2017 - Dec 2018 that is way easier for me to carry around.

{Luxaholic} Simple Luxe Update: 5 Minute DIY Vase #DecorateMyFlat

Hey Fab! As per our disclosure policy, we use affiliate links that may result in compensation if you click links & make purchases.

Hey Delights!

I love having fresh flowers in my home and I also love changing out my decor very often, so I am always looking for easy, simple ways to do so.  I recently purchased some hydrangeas and wanted to display them in a low profile vase but only had one on hand that I covered in black faux leather forever ago. So because I am currently and have been obsessed with white and gold for a few years now, I decided to recover the vase in those colors.

Awhile back I purchased these Gold Foil Sheets (I like these also) because I knew that I would get a lot of use out of them and this was one of them. And because there are several patterns, I can switch it out whenever I want but for now, I am loving this one and just replaced the hydrangeas with baby roses.
Check out this quick and easy DIY!

I know that we have only just really started to get into Winter and while we have had a couple of magical winter days here in Chicago, we have also already had some serious eye roll days. So dreams of Spring have definitely already begun. Soooo...during a recent Target run, I came across these super cute pieces from the Oh Joy! For Target Spring collection and I could fell myself instantly thaw.

As per usual, the Oh Joy! collection is all about bright colors and whimsy & I love and seriously NEED as much of both of those as I can get right now!

{Luxaholic} Christmas Entryway

Last year I went with a mainly red themed Christmas entryway but this year I had something completely different in mind.  I wanted to feel like I was in a winter wonderland of sorts when I walk in and I think that I achieved that.

I purchased a bunch of faux snowballs and strung them together, added lights, a faux shearling rug and my mini tree and I love the effect. It is especially lovely at night.

{What I Wore} Merry Thickmas Ugly Christmas Sweater

I DIY'd my first Ugly Christmas Sweater a couple of years ago using this Ugly Christmas Sweater Kit and I am still loving how kitschy it turned out and have decided that this year instead of trying to top it, I am just going to make rocking it at my family's celebration my annual tradition.

Shoe Cabinet (which I have recently painted white (seen here more deets to come)
Chair | Rug | Cardboard Stag (I love this one
Fireplace Entertainment Center (with enclosed cabinets, which I wish I would have gotten)

{Luxaholic} Morning Calm

I realized as I was sitting here this morning how much I needed the quiet reflection time that I took this sunny, Sunday Morning. And I emphasize the word TOOK because it was a choice that I had to almost demand myself to make after being bombarded with all the madness stemming from the election.

It has definitely been some kind of a week.  Very emotional & trying. But today is World Kindness Day and we need to extend to ourselves and others what it symbolizes more than ever. So, as I sipped my tea, noshed on one of Joe's homemade muffins, read magazines on my tablet, I tuned out and said a prayer of gratitude in spite of it all.

{Pop Post} | Vol 4 - Black, Grey & White Christmas

I am pretty traditional when it comes to my holiday decor as my entryway last Christmas attests to. I always tend to use red, gold, silver, white and green in various ways.

But I was scrolling through my email and saw an email from CB2 that featured these black, white and grey Christmas decorations and I shocked myself because I totally fell in love with them. And now they have got me rethinking my decor this season.

{Luxaholic} Pop Post | Vol. 2 - Rose Gold Swan Lamp

I had to make a return at Target the other day because one of the pumpkins I ordered arrived damaged and I saw this AWEsome Oh Joy! For Target Rose Gold Swan Lamp & totally fell in love with it.

Rose Gold Swan Lamp

I love bold lamps and this one is definitely a conversation piece and has the perfect amount of kitsch and a fun combination of materials. The "petals" on the lampshade are actually made of rose gold metallic paper and the lamp just has a really cool vibe about it.

I don't have anywhere I could put it in my home but I saw it & loved it and wanted to share it, which is the whole point of these Pop Posts.

But if you do have a place where it would fit perfectly, say in your kids room or your family room or you have themes in another room that this would work with, it is a MUST HAVE! And I could totally see it working with a variety of shades too, so if you don't think you would want the gold all the time, keep that in mind.

{Luxaholic} Christmas Entryway

Hey Fabs!

December is here and moving fast and I feel like I should have started a week ago but whateves, I am working to "Christmasfy" our home so that there is a little bit of fa la la la la and jolly in every corner. This is a snap of one part of our entryway that I have finalized and I am still working on the other side.

{Luxaholic} The Easiest DIY Gallery Art Ever

Hey Fabs!

I have finally moved into high gear on completing my studio (last look here) & of course any creative space needs inspiration and gallery walls can be super inspiring. I had been trying out different pieces that I already collected over the years but hadn't settled in on a look yet, so needless to say, I was stoked when I happened upon these me & my BIG Ideas gallery art pads.

These pads are so awesome, especially for a person like me who likes to switch displays out pretty often. They include 18 sheets of art prints in 4 sizes, from 4x6 to 11x14 for frankly the price you would pay for one print.

{Luxaholic} Halloween At Your Door #DecorateMyFlat

Hey Fabs!

If you know me, you know that I LOVE Halloween! It is the kick-off event to the best time of the year for me and the perfect fun way to add to the celebration of Fall and all it's fabulous-ness.

I love to use door mats as seasonal decorating. I mean it really doesn't get much easier than to drop a mat in front of your door and it's a nice way to make folks smile and when it's personalized, it's even better!

I personalized this Half Round Pumpkin Doormat from Personal Creations (c/o) with our last name, which as I noted on instagram, just happens to be seriously perfect for Halloween.

{Luxaholic} A Bold & Brassy Desk Lamp #DecorateMyFlat

Hey Fabs!

I am back with another #DecorateMyFlat update and this time, I am talking about the big, bold brassy lamp that I chose for my desk. The last time I wrote about my desk, I was still waiting for it to arrive and when it did, I was kinda surprised at how big it seemed in my space. But I guess that's how a lot of furniture feels. In in the large open space of the store, it didn't seem so big but it is a pretty substantial piece, and while it took a moment to get use to, I LOVE IT!

The theme of the space is white & gold, and since the desk is a really bright white, I want really bright and equally substantial beautiful gold pieces to place on and around it and I found this fabulous Threshold Brass Task Lamp at Target and knew that it would be perfect.

It has a nice tall profile and you can swivel it so that you can have the light wherever you need it.

Insta {My Style} Recap - Balcony Retreat + What I Wore

Hey Fabs!

We are deep in the heart of summer and I have been have been filling my instagram feed with lots of snaps from my day to day life and it's been a bit since my last recap.

Insta {My Style} Recap - Workout Gear, Shoes & More!

Mother nature has really been a buzz kill for me so while I have so much new in, I haven't had it in me to get out there and shoot so Instagram is always the place where I can share my latest easily, so that's where you will find a lot of my random things, including fashion, food and so much more.

And since it's been a while since my last Insta {My Style} post, I am sharing some new and old things from my insta with more details like where to buy, fit and more.

{Luxaholic} #DecorateMyFlat Update

Hey Lovelies!

Since our move in December we have been slowly putting our new apartment together and I wanted to share my latest Luxaholic updates with you.

As noted above, things have been progressing slowly, partially because we ordered things like this AWESOME white Jett Desk from Z Gallerie for my studio that have been taking FOREVER to arrive...sigh but also because I don't want to rush things and want to only buy things that I really love and that we will have for years to come.

So, while in some ways I wish I could snap my fingers and the apartment would be completely done, I am still enjoying the hunt for the perfect pieces and learning to be a little more patient in the process.

You can find more pictures of what we have ordered (like the chair and wallpaper pictured below) or finalized, etc here on Luxaholic (which you can also always access above).

Hopefully my next update will be of me smiling at my darn desk LOL

Hello lovelies! I am really excited to share this with you.

Are you familiar with Glam's Haute Havens video series? I love it and think that you will too. The current series of videos is produced in partnership with Nissan Altima and it highlights fab African American women entrepreneurs, creatives, and other well known style movers and shakers who embody the “Have it All” spirit.

The main thing I love about it is that we get to venture into their spaces and see how they live and create environments that are both inviting and inspiring.

So today I am sharing with you the Haute Haven of Lifestyle maven Latham Thomas of Mama Glow.

I love that Latham is all about creating a life that encompasses wellness, spiritual growth and radical self care and her home definitely speaks to that.

{Life} Who Moves 6 Days Before Christmas?

Seriously. I have written before about how crazy small our apartment is and so we reached the point where, while still hoping to buy property eventually, it was either get a bigger place NOW or get a divorce.

Haha...joking...sorta :)

So, on Friday, December 12th I went to look at a place. We signed the lease on Saturday, December 13th (Joe didn't even see the place but trusted me to choose, which kinda freaked me out because I felt like the bedrooms might have been too small) and we moved the following Friday, December 19th, six days before Christmas.

Moving day went pretty smoothly, The movers, a company that I have used twice, Coffey Brothers Moving, arrived on time and the movers got to work. I felt kinda bad for them since they were dealing with third floor apartments on both ends but they were professional and did the damn thang in pretty good time.

When they finally left and the dust settled a little bit, I pulled out my winter themed linens and made the bed. It as pretty much all I had the energy for.

{Fab Five} + A Few Things From The Weekend

Sweet Sunday morning lovelies!

Lots of open items on my to do this list & I am grateful that I am starting to feel like myself again & actually beginning to get things done. After working out, today will be spent mainly putting in some overdue work on projects.

I am so ready for Spring & I have been working to bring some really pretty pieces to Closet Fete. This necklace set & stud drop earrings are just a couple of items. I hope you will love them as much as I do {and will buy them} ;).

{Luxaholic} New Year, New Things #5 - Curing My Space

I am a collector of things. Like for example I love being able to throw a dinner party at a moments notice, so I have collected a pretty sizable collection of dishware, wine glasses, etc. over the years.

And while most of it is currently sitting in storage, when I moved in with Joe I of course wanted to have some of my things with me, just in case, but sadly I brought too much stuff with me because reality bites and the small collection of my many collections that I did bring with me has resulted in us living with a wall of boxes that seriously must go.

So I have decided to do the Apartment Therapy January Cure. It is basically a get organized, refresh your living space challenge where they send you an email every weekday of tasks that are geared towards "curing" your space of what ails it.

The first task arrived this morning and it is to "Create a Project List". That seems simple enough right?

I will mainly be blogging about about this over at Luxaholic but will share snippets here as well.

Is your living space in need of a cure?

{Luxaholic} Scenting My Faux Tree w/ ScentSicles!

I normally get a real xmas tree but this year because we lack the space in our apartment, we are going with the one that we purchased for the wee one a couple of years ago.

And not to be a scrooge but plastic trees are just not my thang but I have appeased myself with these awesome little ScentSicles scented ornaments that take away some of the fake sting!
