{Luxaholic} And So It Has Begun

Hey Delights!

On Tuesday I started pulling out my holiday decor and it made me so excited for the holidays. And this is way early for me. I normally don't get started until December but I seriously just want to max out all these last few weeks of the year. And as I did last year, I am once again going with the "winter wonderland" vibe, filled with white & gold and lots and lots of lights. What can I say? It's my jam and it makes me really happy 😊.

{What I Wore} Holiday Vibe

Christmas came and went in a blur but not before I got to celebrate it a little. We started Christmas morning off by volunteering at the Center on Halsted and afterwards went home for a little nap and then off to hang with the fambam at my sister's house.

I wanted to keep my style majorly relaxed so I pulled out my fave velvet jumpsuit (I LOVE this one that is currently on ridiculous sale under $30) & my Noel flats from last year. I also finally wore the Eloquii cape blazer I purchased in 2015.

{Music} My Dancing In The Streets Christmas Playlist

If you follow me on snapchat then you already know that dancing in the streets is one of my daily thangs. Music seriously fuels me and keeps me sane.  So of course a good Christmas playlist is a must for keeping me happy, smiling and singing along during what can be a somewhat hectic holiday season.

I generally fill my Christmas playlists with a variety of classic songs like this playlist but this year I wanted upbeat and cheerful music I could dance to during those not so cool moments like while I wait in the long...long line at the post office (gahhh), or to drown out the madness on public transit or just when I am chilling at home.

There's a little bit of rap, rock and just good holiday cheer!

Last year I went with a mainly red themed Christmas entryway but this year I had something completely different in mind.  I wanted to feel like I was in a winter wonderland of sorts when I walk in and I think that I achieved that.

I purchased a bunch of faux snowballs and strung them together, added lights, a faux shearling rug and my mini tree and I love the effect. It is especially lovely at night.

{Travel} Thanksgiving Escape #JetSetCurves

I seriously can not believe that it is already Thanksgiving week! Joe and I decided to head back to Mississippi to spend Thanksgiving weekend with the grand wee one. And once again we are taking the bus, which of course for a wham bam, get it done now kind of a girl like me, that is definitely not my first choice.

But the last time we did it, it was actually kinda nice because my family used to take road trips every year and I hadn't been on one in forever.  So it felt kinda nostalgic although I have to admit while at moments I felt cramped, I enjoyed the scenery along Route 66. And the 544 mile journey also definitely made me spend more time off the grid and more time sleeping than I normally get while traveling.

I keep saying that I am going to get my license back and do more road trips but driving hasn't been on my list of enjoyable things for a very long time.

But we will see how this goes LOL. You can follow along on "the adventure" via my snapchat and my travel hashtag, #JetSetCurves on Twitter & Instagram.

Anyway, I snagged this cute escape weekender bag for my travels.

And because we will be traveling on Thanksgiving, we ordered dinner for the night before from Whole Foods. This will be our first time trying their Vegan Holiday Dinner. Btw they have a special where if you order holiday meals, entrees, etc online (for pick up in store) through November 22nd you get $10 off your next in store purchase of $75. Nice perk.

What say you? Are you traveling this Thanksgiving?

{Life} Take In The Moments...

Hey Fabs!

How are you surviving this whirlwind season? Christmas always makes me feel like a kid again and I really love this time of year so much. I feel such a sense of happiness with all the activity, even amazingly, the craziness in the stores and on the streets from all the shoppers.

But I also feel the ho hums on December 26th when the gifts have been opened and my favorite radio station is no longer playing Christmas music 24/7. Re-reading Zadry's Beat the Holiday Blues post will definitely be a must for me and thankfully I have so many things that I want to accomplish as we greet the new year that will hopefully keep me occupied and out of my feelings.

So, while it's going sooooo fast and it is so easy to get caught up in the madness, I am trying to take some quiet moments to just enjoy it. Like spending some time looking at our tree and sipping a cuppa, with the Christmas melodies playing in the background & just feeling the simple peace of it all before I head out for some last minute shopping.

Cheers!

{What I Wore} Anything But Ugly Christmas Sweaters

Hey Fabs!

Oh...Deer! Am I the only one who feels like December is flying by way too fast? I mean we are less than two weeks from Christmas and I have not celebrated nearly as much as I have wanted to. Friday night we went caroling at Cloud Gate aka The Bean here in Chicago, which has become a holiday tradition over the last few years. But I am definitely hoping to get some other fun holiday activities in also but wooo...I seriously need these days to slowwwww down.

Anyway, while I am still working on my Christmas day ugly sweater, I am happy to report that there are lots of cute seasonal sweaters that are anything but ugly, like this cute Oh...Deer! sweater that I paired with sequin skinny jeans & my faux leather cape for a little casual holiday season vibe.

Hey Fabs!

December is here and moving fast and I feel like I should have started a week ago but whateves, I am working to "Christmasfy" our home so that there is a little bit of fa la la la la and jolly in every corner. This is a snap of one part of our entryway that I have finalized and I am still working on the other side.

{Five Fab} Ways to Beat the Holiday Blues

The Holiday season is officially here. Next week is Thanksgiving. Isn't that crazy? Wasn't it just Halloween? But I won't complain since this is my favorite time of the year. I love everything about Thanksgiving and Christmas-- the food, the family time and the decorating.

My fondness for the holidays stems from my memories of growing up in Brooklyn. Watching the colors of the leaves change for Thanksgiving and waking up to a snow-covered yard on Christmas morning was a magical time.

But as you grow up, life happens and some of that magic gets lost. About five years ago I decided to shift my energies and rekindle my holiday spirit. I began focusing on the people and things that added joy and meaning to my life.

So today my pre-holiday gift to you is this post-- 5 Fab Ways To Beat The Holiday Blues.

{Gift Guide} Wit & Wonder Gold Crush

Hey Fabs!

As much as I love "the hunt" that shopping can be, I equally love (especially this time of the year) when brands put together gift guides. They are a great discovery tool and there is usually lots of fun gifts for everyone on your list.

Nordstrom's Wit & Wonder gift guide is one such guide. It includes a wide variety of whimsical gifts but because I am obsessed with gold and white, here are nine picks from the guide that are sure to delight the gold lover in your life. Oh and everything ships for FREE!

Gift Guide Nordstrom Christmas
"You are the Best" Mug | Bling is My Favorite Color Pouch | Crosley Keepsake Portable USB Turntable | New Year Party Blowers | Fringe "Sparkle"Glass Tray | Shark Jaw Bottle Opener | Swell Sparkling Champagne' Stainless Steel Water Bottle | Alphabet Glitter Stickers | WTF Note Cards

This mug says it all. Who doesn't love to be reminded hat they are the best?  And seriously, yes, bling is my favorite color. And I have had my eye on a Crosley record player for so long now, this may very well be the year Santa comes through with one.

I love the little party blowers. They will be perfect for Joe & I on New Years Eve. We pretty much stay in every year and cook dinner and sip libations which turns into us barely staying awake when the clock strikes midnight. What can I say?  We are old LOL but they will be totally fun with the celebrate champagne flutes I recently purchased.

And you can never have too much sparkle in your life! This is such a cute tray for a vanity or your desk. And I am totally the kitsch girl, so I had to have this shark jaw bottle opener. It will make popping open a bottle of ale that much more fun. And I literally walked past a (closed) store window the other day and saw this Swell water bottle and had to pull over and google it. It is such a fabulous gold color. And I am always adding stickers (the glitter-er the better) to my craft box. I just love having them on hand for those moments when a need to be creative strikes. And WTF?!! These note cards are sure to light up the mailbox of  the Woo There Fabulous folks in your life ;)

What say you? Are you a gold lover?

{What I Wore} Red White & Blue Americana Bikini

Hey Fabs!

July always feels like the true start of summer for me.

Although I have been out of school for a long, long time, a part of me still remembers how great it felt to finally be on summer break. And the fourth of July was always the first big celebration of the season, so it holds a sweet spot in my heart. And to celebrate it we are going to pull out the grill & get our bbq on!

And I wanted to rock something fun that gives a little nod to the holiday and expresses my bikini independence and this awesome vintage americana style bikini from Swimsuits For All definitely does the trick!

{Fab Five} Tips To Survive The Holiday Season #NaBloPoMo

Don't you feel it? All the pre-holiday air? It's invigorating and nostalgic and just wonderful, right?

But as we all know, the wonderfulness of the most wonderful time of the year can turn into exhaustion in a heartbeat.

So I have put together a list of 5 things that I feel are going to be essential to maintaining your joy and sanity this holiday season.

#1 - Sleep

Yeah it sounds simple enough, right? But we all know that getting enough sleep can be challenging during the most chill of times but add to that the holly, jolly, folly of the holiday season and we all tend to skimp on it.

So, I am challenging YOU & me to make sure that we get those z's in. And this includes sneaking in those short naps, which can be seriously nirvana.  I think our bodies and our minds and the folks around us will thank us for it.

{Shopping} The Neiman Marcus 2014 Christmas Book

Lets dream a little for a minute...

As I write this post, we are 66 days away from Christmas and I can not help but get excited when I see certain things that always remind me of the season.

The Neiman Marcus 2014 Christmas Book is one of those things and it has arrived & as per it's tradition, is full of fab & fancy way out of my budget items like these insane Beats By Dr. Dre Golden Beats Headphones and Pill Speaker, this beautiful Valentino Rockstud Crossbody Bag and this cool vintage style Marshall Woburn Speaker.

And these are a few of the lower end "indulge" items in this years book. There is also a $425,000 Vanity Fair Academy Awards® Experience and a $475,000 House of Creed Bespoke Fragrance Journey which includes two first-class tickets to Paris, five star hotel stay, spa excursions, etc!

But getting back to reality and prices that my bank account can work with, there are also lots of affordable items that would make perfect gifts for your loved ones or selfie gifts ;).

This Christian Lacroix Glam'azonia Boxed Jigsaw Puzzle features the Bijoux intricate jewel design on one side and the jungle animal-themed Glam'azonia print on the reverse and would look fab framed on either side.

It's definitely no secret around here that I love snakeskin and these gorgeous Graphic Image Python-Embossed iPhone 5/5s & iPad Cases are luxe in style but not in price and can be personalized to boot.

And while this Faux-Fur-Covered Ice Scraper may seem impractical, I think it is awesome and would make the drudgery of having to scrap snow and ice off your car windows a little less brutal.

These are just a few of the items, you can ohhh and ahhh and side eye the rest here.

{Luxaholic} New Year, New Things #1 - Staying Connected Via Snail Mail

Hello lovelies, have you recovered from Christmas yet?

LOL  ;)

30% off Holiday Cards and Invites at Cardstore! Use Code: CCP3269, Valid through 12/31/13. Shop Now! I have a lot of new things in the works for the new year and one of them is to get back to mailing notes and greetings instead of emailing them.

My cousins send out these adorable family updates throughout the year and receiving them always reminds me how sweet it is to get a card or note in the mail instead of just my email.

And while we call it the "old fashioned" way, there are ways to do it that are super easy.

I have used Cardstore for the past two years to create and mail my greeting cards without a glitch and so they are my current go to source.

You can customize their templates or upload and create your own and they will even mail them out for you, which is the part I love THE MOST because sometimes getting to the post office just doesn't work out in my world (I haven't picked my mail up in weeks!!)

So, I am currently in the process of creating a New Years greeting and even following the stores lead, where they have already started stocking the stuff for Valentine's Day and started working on those too because it's so easy to do.

Do you still send greetings the "old fashioned way"?

I love parades and don't get to check them out often enough, so although I am still sick (you should have heard my ma mere on the phone when I told her we went) and it was cold as frick out, we got up at the crack (6am) and made our way downtown to check out the 80th Chicago Thanksgiving Day parade.

It was an awesome multicultural display that made it all worth it.
