Hey Delights!

I am excited to invite those of you in the Chicagoland area to join us for a fun event with Halfstack Magazine at the Chicago Eloquii store at The Shops at North Bridge this Saturday, December 16th. Halfstack Magazine is an awesome independent culture magazine that showcases, brands, musicians, designers, boutiques, artists, local entrepreneurs & social changers in Chicago.

As per our disclosure policy, we use affiliate links that may result in compensation if you click links & make purchases.

They interviewed moi and my blogger boos, Mindy, Charlotte and invited us to participate in their "Giving Issue" & celebrate it with a shopping and style soiree at Eloquii.

This will of course be a fun time with giveaways, sweets &  delicious drinks and there will also be a few surprises.😉

I seriously still feel giddy every time I walk into Eloquii. It is just so great that we have an actual brick and mortar store here in Chicago & it is fabulous of them to support other local Chicago brands by hosting this event.

So kudos to them.

And it is the perfect time to snag those holiday looks like the Metallic Knit Dress I am rocking above, so come and shop, dance and laugh with us.

Plus Size {Pick of The Day}: Cape Coats

Hey Fab! As per our disclosure policy, we use affiliate links that may result in compensation if you click links & make purchases. By doing so, you help to keep this blog going & I appreciate & thank you for it.

Hey Delights!

As I mentioned here, we welcomed the new Eloquii store to Chicago last week and if you are following me on Snapchat or Instagram then you know that I completely fell IN LOVE with both of these coats.

There is no secret around here that I am obsessed with capes. Like OBSESSED. I mean, the love is real, REAL. SooOO of course I was instantly drawn to both of these beauties.

This tie neck cape coat is such an amazing piece. It has this great relaxed cocoon but structured vibe to it and the color is so gorgeous. And that tie neck adds such a classy touch to it. It is a great transitioning piece for Fall and Winter. For Fall I would probably rock it like I did here, with a thick, cable knit cardigan sweater. And for winter, I would put a jacket under it like I did here with my faux suede piece.
The details of my clothes under the coat are here.

And this peplum cape jacket! OHHH MYY GAWDDD!

{What I Wore} Kimono Blush

Hey Fab! As per our disclosure policy, we use affiliate links that may result in compensation if you click links & make purchases. By doing so, you help to keep this blog going & I appreciate & thank you for it.

Hey Delights!

I purchased these soft pink crepe ankle grazer cigarette pants (in a pretty lilac) pretty much on a whim and I wore them along with the matching jacket back in February as my Valentine's Day look.

(side note on that look: it was FREEZING & I shoot this look myself so it took longer than it would if someone else was behind the camera but you know we bloggers...we just make ish happen)

My Eloquii family gifted me this amazing tie front kimono wrap top and I knew it would be perfect with these pants. And the print is a great example of how well Eloquii does prints. The colors are unexpected but just work.

{Fashion} Eloquii Opens a Store in Chicago!

Hey Fab! As per our disclosure policy, we use affiliate links that may result in compensation if you click links & make purchases. By doing so, you help to keep this blog going & I appreciate & thank you for it.

Hey Delights!

I am so excited to share with you that the first Eloquii store in the Midwest is opening here in Chicago on Thursday and it is going to be amazing! We celebrated with a blogger breakfast in a gorgeous suite at The Gwen and a tour of the store located at The Shops at North Bridge on Michigan Avenue. {more on that to come}.

I rocked this gorgeous orange ruffle overlay wrap dress (c/o) and played up it's beautiful color with these vibrant pink ruffle mid heels and I seriously felt amazing! It is such a great color combo.

{Commuity} My Thoughts on The Limited's eloquii Demise

Note: As of Feb 2014 ELOQUII has returned with a new brand focus. Learn more here!

Last week it was announced on the eloquii by The Limited facebook page that the brand will be phased out after the summer.

If you have read my blog for any amount of time you know that besides being asked to model the brand on television, that I have been a HUGE FAN and self imposed ambassador for the brand devoting lots of time to showcasing it via my "Dressing Room" series, so you can imagine my dismay at this.

Earlier in the month, it was announced that Linda Heasley was leaving The Limited and heading over to Lane Bryant to become it's CEO.  While this was somewhat shocking considering how long she had been with The Limited, it wasn't really a shock to me because I knew from my constant emails with her over the years that she was very interested in serving the plus size market.

But the fact that The Limited states that it "has decided to phase out eloquii and we have begun discussions with others who have expressed an interest in the future of the brand and/or its products" is somewhat of a surprise because I for one was very pleased with the direction that the design of the brand was taking under designer Jodi Arnold.

I am no business analyst by any means but I have always had some qualms about how the brand was marketed or better yet not marketed.

For one, the decision to give it space in only certain stores in my mind was a set up for failure because while a lot of us are willing to do the online thing and cross our fingers, I found that there was just a lot of women who still didn't know about the brand and was surprised when I would mention it.

They seemed to put a lot of time into facebook but a lot of their potential base is not necessarily on facebook and of course plus size women tend to need to TOUCH and try on clothes. So having to pay shipping and go thru the potential trouble of returning things is not the business.

Also the constant sales model I think always makes people think that a brand has a pricing issue and if they don't, it can definitely create a pricing issue because consumers get used to sales and waiting for sales and I am sure that is not good for a bottom line.

With the brand being so new, I would have loved to have seen them drop it in more stores and even hold regular events for it as they have done for many of their collaborations and new lines, at one which back in 2010 I meet Linda Heasley and started my conversations about The Limited's plus size future.

Fashion is such a personal thing, and while I know lots of women loved their options, I saw some comments about the "trend factor" of their offerings perhaps not being up to par with some of the other plus size brands and I could not disagree more.

In my mind, it was a brand on par with Alfani and Inc, both owned by Macy's. They are brands geared more towards the woman who liked to keep it trendy AND also professional, which is also in line with The Limited's regular range.

So, I for one was glad that in addition to brands like ASOS Curve which I love but are "hyper trendy, I had the brand as another option to showcase the many sides of my fashion personality.

So, it is a bit disheartening that they have chosen the path that they have and of course it sucks that once again, a US brand seems to be missing the boat and the HUGE opportunity that there is in plus size fashion.

Oh and a friendly reminder: if you earned eloquii e-Cash, you have until January 13th to use it!

{Dressing Room} eloquii by The Limited Holiday Collection

eloquii recently added some fabulous pieces for the holiday so of course
I headed over to the shop to get my hands on some of them.

Oh and if you have had your eye on some of their dresses,
today is the day to snag them, as all dresses are 50% off today only.
Today 11/12/12's glam 50% off deal is on sweaters & tops!

Check out my previous dressing room post here for some great options,

I am totally in love with this dress.
The slit sleeves are so sexy to me and I love the buttons & pleats at the wrist.

{beauty} L'Oreal + Project Runway The Seductive Temptress Nail Stickers

My love of easy, fun nail art has been highly documented here, so of course
when I saw these {beauty} L'Oreal Paris + Project Runway
The Seductive Temptress Nail Stickers, I had to snag a pack.

This style is very african cloth print meets snake skin and I love it.

These nail stickers are so easy to apply (always start with a swipe of polish remover).

I rocked them last night and got tons of compliments.

They are supposed to be a limited edition, but I purchased them at CVS
about a week or so ago, so you may still be able to find them in stores.

{Dressing Room} @eloquii by The Limited Sweaters

If you have read my blog for any length of time, you know that I am a big eloquii STAN.

And I am because I waited for the brand to drop for a long time and I had been constantly harassing The Limited CEO in person and via email since 2010 about it and when it dropped, I had really high hopes for it.  And thankfully, they have not let me down.

From the beginning, there was much to love. The pieces were stylish and very well made. And with the addition of Jodi Arnold as the designer, things have only gotten better.

Of course it's sweater season and they recently launched their sweater boutique
and there are quite a few that I am digging.

Looking at this sweater on their website, I was very skeptical about it because
it doesn't look all that hot on the model, so I am glad they had it in store.

{Dressing Room} Studs & Animal Prints @eloquii by The Limited

Over the weekend I stopped in to see what was new in store
at eloquii and of course I had to try on and snag a piece or two ;)

To say that the stud lover in me was swooning over this dress
would be the biggest of understatements!
Oh and I deleted the pics in error from my phone but
the purple studded sheath in the background is also pretty fab on.

{Shopping} eloquii by The Limited Style Steal Weekend

There is nothing like a good sale and eloquii is having a sweet one this weekend .

The sale is site wide and includes sale items. so there are obviously lots of good options
to choose from but I wanted to share three that are high on my list,
the Cap Sleeve Wrap Dress, Copper Metallic Skinny Jean & Faux Leather Pencil Skirt.

{Featured} Sonsi-Re/Dress - Show us Your Style!

It was a sad day when the closing of the NYC boutique Re/Dress was announced awhile back, so it was definitely exciting to hear that Sonsi is keeping Re/Dress alive with a new online boutique.

The plus size retail brand will feature vintage-inspired dresses, sweaters, tops, and their super cute, colorful teggings (part tight, part leggings).

In celebration of the new launch, Sonsi invited several bloggers to pick an item from the current collection to style in our own unique ways.

When I first saw this gorgeous Pink Flamingo Sun Dress, I knew it was the item from the collection that I wanted to rock. It is the most pretty of pinks and the pleats were just made for one of my favorite things to do in a fun, flirty, dress...twirl!!!

It is such a fabulous pink and it feels so good on. Not binding or restrictive.

And since it is officially Fall, I decided at the last minute to show a few of
the many ways that I would wear it in cooler weather.

{travel} Weekend Trip Packing

I took a trip to NYC this weekend and making this trip several times a year has really shaped how I pack.

For one, getting around NYC can be exhausting at times, with the multitude of trains & buses I sometimes have to take to get where I am going and of course the thousands of people who come along for the ride O_o.

I remember when I moved to NYC almost a decade ago. I had just paroled myself from corporate and convinced Joe that we should just do it and we arrived in the dead of summer and it was a serious rude awakening. We had all of these humongo suitcases and were schlepping them on trains, off trains, up ramps, down ramps, up stairs, down stairs..it was a nightmare.

So, as the years have gone by, I have changed the way that I pack and the last two trips especially have been minimalist to the max.

Here's what I packed this time.

{OOTD} Prints and Polka Dots

I am in NYC having a blast but I wanted to share the look I mentioned in the Windy City Live Flatter That Full Figure post. I love these two pieces and I plan to wear them with everything and I do mean ev..ery...thing!

{fun} Windy City Live "Flatter That Full Figure" Recap

Major shout out to the folks at eloquii by The Limited for asking me to model for them on Windy City Live Flatter That Full Figure segment.

I had a blast!

Aleah of Aleah Connect, the stylist for the segment wanted me in pants, so we took a trip to the eloquii shop in shop here at the Water Tower and tried on lots of pieces but chose these fab print pants, matching jacket and gorgeous fuchsia cutout blouse.

I really love the print on the pants and jacket and I actually wore them last night to an event with a polka dot top!

Anyway, we had a 6:20am call time. I arrived at the Windy City Live studio and the fun began.  Once we got into hair & makeup, the morning just flew by.

I was very pleased that they selected so much color and patterns and styles to feature. It really gave a variety of options that can beincorporated into a full figured woman's wardrobe. Aleah also gave a lot of tips on fit and fabric and other things to look for when dressing a curvy body (and there are more on her website here).

I didn't get to take a lot of pics, mainly just some blurry ones with my phone, which can be found on my facebook page.

They wanted me in big hair...I think they achieved their objective and lots of colorful makeup.

{fun} Windy City Live "Flatter That Full Figure"

In case you missed it, here is the video from yesterday's Windy City Live "Flatter That Full Figure" segment that a bunch of us local girls modeled for.

It was such a fun experience. I will recap everything soon!

{fun} Check Me Out on Windy City Live

One of my favorite brands, eloquii invited me to model some of their fab fall pieces for a full figured fashion segment on Chicago's Windy City Live.

I arrived at the studio for an ungodly 6:20 am call time.

I have never 'modeled' anything in my life and they have me wearing heels, so pray I don't slip and fall!! :)
