OK ladies, I know we all are getting busier & a little more excited for the holidays. Our calendars are filling up. Thanksgiving is around the corner. And it is all can be so fun but it can also be a bit stressful. And if you’re like me, you still want to get some movement & workouts in somehow because you know that they help to keep you sane in the midst of all the fa la la la la. Right?

So I was at the gym last night for an hour and I got a run in, which I had not done in forever. But I was thinking about how when it’s cold it’s usually a lot harder to get to the gym. I ended up at there because it is close to my chiropractor‘s office so I figured OK, I’ll get an adjustment and go to the gym.  But real talk, I would not have gone to the gym had I not been a couple of blocks away.

So I knew that I need something easier. Because besides getting the motivation to go outside in the elements, there is of course the challenge of time.  I think a lot of us are always feeling like we don’t have enough time and looking for ways to get more out of each day.

I love inspirational quotes and sayings and I knew the second that I saw this empowerment t-shirt that I had to add it to my collection. I don't know about you, but I love being underestimated.

I love people telling me that I can't do something. It is the ultimate fuel for me. Not so much that I want to be able to tell them "ha fool, you don't know me" when I actually do what they say that I can't or shouldn't, it's more about proving to myself that I am capable beyond any limitations, self imposed or otherwise.

{What I Wore} Working My Curves #CurvesDefined

Hey Delights!

I am pretty much back in the full swing of things and that includes getting back into my #CurvesDefined workout groove. Yesterday I pulled out one of my favorite workout sets (last seen here) and hit the gym.

Pants: Ideology I also have a matching jacket | Top: Festa Sports (c/o) | Asics Trainers (under $30!!!)

I have pretty much lived in the Ideology plus size active wear line at Macy's for a few years now.  I love that they have such a great variety of styles and lots of coordinating pieces because as we all know, what you are wearing when working out really can up your mojo.

Plus Size {Fashion} Pick of The Day: Marble Print Workout Wear + Fit Notes #PlusSizePick

As my #CurvesDefined journey continues, I am always looking for cute workout gear because I am definitely one of those people who gets a little more gym mojo when I am rocking fun pieces.


The fabs at Forever21+ sent these new plus size marble print workout pieces from their new Ashley Graham fronted campaign to me a couple of weeks ago and as I mentioned in my instagram post, I wanted to share a bit about the fit. So here you go.


I am a 44DDD, so there is rarely a workout top that I can just throw on and go with. I always need a bra with a lot of hold. So, this medium impact sports bra, which btw has removable cups and a super cute contrast crisscross back design would need to be backed up with another bra for my girls. Of course if you are less busty, you may be able to rock it solo.

The stretch knit capri leggings have a nice amount of structure to them, which is a huge requirement for me when it comes to workout wear. I need my pieces to hold a girl up & down and I would say these offer a medium hold.

{Five Fab} Ways to Break The Winter Slog

Hey Fabs!

Am I the only one who thinks that December & January are like the sun and the moon? In December even if it's cold, everything is glitzy and festive and glam but come January, especially in the cities that really experience real winter, like here in Chicago, everything gets soooo bleak.

And that's a bummer because these cold months are the ones where we really NEED all the sparkle and bling uplifting to make it thru all the harshness.

And with the below zero temps we are having, a girl tends to be buried in layers and cloaked in dark colors and super into hibernating, which is why there has only been one OOTD post so far this month..sigh.

But it hit me the other day...I aint going out like that!  I refuse to let winter drag me down into dullsville any longer, so let Operation Break The January Slog begin.

Here are five things I will be doing:

1. Of course shaking things up via beauty is one of the easiest tweaks you can make, so I will be rocking my brightest nail polish shades, like the ones below from my pampering party & lippies and even werking some new eye shadow looks to keep things fresh and bright.

Mother nature has really been a buzz kill for me so while I have so much new in, I haven't had it in me to get out there and shoot so Instagram is always the place where I can share my latest easily, so that's where you will find a lot of my random things, including fashion, food and so much more.

Flywheel Stadium Cycling Mini Review & Giveaway #NaBloPoMo

If you follow me on facebook or twitter, then you may have seen this lovely pic of my crazily bruised calf.


How my calf came to this state is beyond me. I just know that my legs had been incredibly tight and I hadn't been doing my morning stretches as much as I should have. But I knew on Tuesday that I had my intro to Flywheel coming up and it was something that I did not want to miss.

So, I pulled out my two stiff, achy body weapons of choice, my foam roller (similar) and my wooden ball massager (similar) and worked it out throughout the day.

And although it hurt like h e l l, it did the trick and by the time that I had to leave for my class, my leg, while crazy bruised and still achy was no longer stiff and almost immovable.

YAY ME!

And then the fun began...

Believe it or not, I actually like working out because In my heart of hearts I am an athlete. My sports of choice are volleyball, basketball & football, so being physical is really something I enjoy.

And being an earth girl, I prefer to flex my inner athlete outside rather than in the gym.  And although sometimes the weather in our fair city doesn't cooperate, Fall usually provides a lot of opportunity to work on defining my curves in the great outdoors.

So today was the perfect time to throw on my new Rykä Flextra kicks, grab a resistance band, my yoga mat and hit the park.

{Life} Sometimes You Just Need To Unplug

For the first time in forever, I went away on a lil holiday and did not take my laptop and I must say, although there was work that I needed to get done, I am glad I didn't.

I also didn't set up my normal post archives reposting or gasp...didn't ask Joe to take a single photo of me and only have a couple that I took of myself, like this blurry one..oh and I finally wore this gorgeous blue faux leather tank that I have had for months.


Oh and this one at the hotel gym...yes, I tried to get in a little #CurvesDefined


And a couple that I took of us, all with my cell phone.



We went to Detroit to check out The Monster Tour and Eminem and Rhianna did not disappoint. It was a fabulous night and we danced and danced and sang and rapped and just had the best time. Here is a video snippet of Em performing one of my favs.

And while we had a lil hotel drama upon arrival, our weekend was AWEsome and the perfect reminder that sometimes, you truly need to just disconnect for a bit and do more being.

Photography has always been a love of mine and I love snapping food, nature and architecture and this trip was no exception, I hope to post pics from this trip on my Everyday City Scenes blog here (a couple are already up).

I can't believe that August is gonneee...These days are flying by!

{Featured} Working My Curves In Custom Reebok

For me working out is enhanced when I am wearing gear that I feel good in. So when People StyleWatch offered me the chance to custom design my own Reeboks, I was super stoked!

I chose the Reebok Women's RealFlex Scream 2.0 to customize.

The process is pretty simple. Select the pair you want, you click on the different sections of the shoe that you want to customize and tadaa... your very own custom kicks.
I hadn't worn Reebok is decades but I love these shoes, they are so flexible and comfortable.  And trust me, that really helps me when I am at the gym. I actually felt like working out longer and the gym rats definitely noticed my fab kicks!

{Health} Operation #CurvesDefined

I am not a scale person.

I remember when I got my first apartment at age 19 and I bought one of those bathroom sets that came with a scale so I had one but it just sat there collecting dust.

Eventually I just threw it away, I mean it was just basically taking up space.

To this day, now deep within my 40s, I still don't weigh myself. I have always felt that the state of my body is less about the number on the scale and more about how I felt internally & how my clothes fit me.

Being 5'10"ish & the fact that I do have a pretty muscular frame as well underneath all this luscious, soft pillowy fatness, historically no one has ever really been able to accurately guess my weight.


The only time, the number on the scale usually comes into play is when I go to the doctor, which I will admit is not often enough but I am planing to change that.
