{What I Wore} Annalise Keating Inspired - The Fab 40's Challenge

Hey Fab! As per our disclosure policy, we use affiliate links that may result in compensation if you click links & make purchases.

Hey Delights!

Today I am off to NYC for the Fohr U: The Conference, so you can follow along on my instagram, snapchat and twitter to see what I get in.

But although I am scrambling & doing my last minute packing thing, I wanted to get this post up sharing my look as the guest blogger in the Fab 40's style challenge hosted by Veronica of Cid Style File. Basically they choose a monthly theme and style it out and this month's theme is "Villain". I can not tell you how hard of a time I had coming up with someone but I ended up going with How to Get Away with Murder's Annalise Keating. Mind you, I don't watch the show but because of my twitter time line, I feel like I do and I know Annalise be on some major villain type mess.

Anyway, here is my interpretation of Annalise Keating's style, which while conservative, always has a little sexiness to it. So I went with this fitted jacket and knotted skirt.

Moto X Pure Edition by Jonathan Adler Inspired DIY #XOmotoX

My love of prints extends into every part of my life, from my clothes, shoes & accessories to my home decor. So I am totally digging the prints of the Moto X Pure Edition designed by Jonathan Adler.

For me, prints bring energy to our lives and because I love decorating with the seasons, I switch out my decor on a frequent basis. Sometimes it's a huge undertaking but other times, it's a cute little DIY, like the one I made here that adds a sweet little something to our space.

{What I Wore} Working My Gwynnie Bee Closet: Trying New Things

Hey Fabs!

As I've upped my #CurvesDefined game my body is definitely starting to change, so my Gwynnie Bee closet is becoming even more of an asset for me because it doesn't really make sense for me to purchase a whole bunch of clothes right now.

And that makes the fact that my peeps at People StyleWatch made my Gwynnie Bee closet even deeper by letting me choose some new styles to share with you, even more fabulous.

Igigi Heidi Halter Dress In Fuchsia Cachemire
Here I am rocking a style of dress that is pretty much a warm weather basic for me. Relaxed, v neck & arms out, perfect for keeping cool. But what isn't a norm for me is the print. I own a couple of paisley pieces but not nearly enough, so I chose this dress to try something new.

I know I have said it before but it is truly the reason why I am a Gwynnie Bee stan. Always something new to choose. How could you not love that?!!

{What I Wore} Working My Gwynnie Bee Closet: Prints, Prints & More Prints!

Hey fabs!

If you have been following me for any amount of time, then you know my Gwynnie Bee love is the real deal. So when my peeps at People StyleWatch invited me to partner with them to share some of the current fab pieces in stock at Gwynnie Bee, doing so was a no brainer.

I selected a variety of styles in pretty patterns and fits to give you a good look at the diverse brands that are always available.  Like this Mynt 1792 Cold Shoulder Python Print Dress. I have worn it twice since it arrived. It is so gorgeous and comfortable. I first wore it with flats and then paired it with these colorblock heels that I have had forever.
And if you know anything about Mynt 1792, then you know they are all about quality and this dress is no exception. And the cold shoulder has definitely become the sexiest style to me.

And that python print? LOVE!

Next up is this Karen Kane Palm Print Tank Dress. It was perfect for a day at the park. I threw it, my strappy espadrilles & my fab white roll up visor on and BAM, easy breezy, summertime cute.

It's such a pretty blue and it had a girl feeling carefree, flirty and fun!

And next up, you will totally say yes to this Triste Patchwork Printed Ruched Dress! It is va vavoom and form fitted without being restrictive.
I love the fabulous colors of the patchwork pattern play. They are fun but subtle and the dress while totally fab on it's own, would also look awesome under a blazer for work or play.

I realized as I was writing this post that all three of these dresses are in the blue/green color family but are all still so fresh and unique, A total nod to one of the reasons why I love Gwynnie Bee so much, it truly does give you an endless wardrobe.

Stay tuned, I will be featuring another dress with a completely different vibe!

Disclosure: People StyleWatch & Gwynnie Bee provided me with complimentary access to their service but don't get it twisted, I have been a fan since they began and the opinions expressed here are my own. Learn more about featured posts and my disclosure policy here.

{Featured} Drop Ya Pants! Join The #Underwareness Movement! #sp

Thank you to Depend for sponsoring today’s post about the #underwareness movement.

Alright ladies since we are all friends here, I am just going to keep it real and share something that for whatever reasons is viewed as taboo to some folks.

But aint no shame in my game and if you follow me on social media you have probably seen tweets like the following:

Bladder leakage is a condition that affects millions of people of all ages, so while I don't suffer from it on a regular basis, there are times when control of my bladder is not totally my own, So, when the opportunity came about to try Depend Silhouette Active Fit for myself, I jumped on it.

Hello lovelies! I am really excited to share this with you.

Are you familiar with Glam's Haute Havens video series? I love it and think that you will too. The current series of videos is produced in partnership with Nissan Altima and it highlights fab African American women entrepreneurs, creatives, and other well known style movers and shakers who embody the “Have it All” spirit.

The main thing I love about it is that we get to venture into their spaces and see how they live and create environments that are both inviting and inspiring.

So today I am sharing with you the Haute Haven of Lifestyle maven Latham Thomas of Mama Glow.

I love that Latham is all about creating a life that encompasses wellness, spiritual growth and radical self care and her home definitely speaks to that.

Street Style Meets Street Art w/Perrier® #StreetArtByPerrier #sp

Hey Lovelies, sharing something fun from one of my favorite brands, Perrier®. One thing is for sure, that no matter what time of the year it is, a girl needs to stay hydrated. And for me, water is my main hydration of choice. Add to that hydration a little sparkling fizz and ahhhh....

I love street art and think that it's pretty cool that Perrier® has re-branded its Sparkling Natural Mineral Water label in the most fun way. They commissioned three world-famous street art artists to create 9 new limited edition labels for their glass and plastic bottles and new slim cans.

The designs are colorful and fun and showcase three very distinct styles of street art. I love the exploding floral mandalas from the Japanese artist Sasu on the Perrier® PET plastic bottles. They are so vibrant and pretty and look like they are blossoming right on the bottles.

{Featured} Shaping Your Curves w/NYDJ Slimming Fit Jeans #sp

Hey Lovelies!

It is of course no secret that I love a good pair of jeans. And one of the things that excites me more and more each day is the variety of styles of jeans for women like myself with a little extra in the hips and thighs.

And I have written many times about the fact that skinny jeans are my main jeans of choice. I just love having a nice, contoured look in my jeans. And I love them even more when they aren't super basic and come in fun colors, coatings or prints, like these NYDJ Sheri Skinny in Houndstooth.

How fun and Fall/Winter perfect are these?

NYDJ Sheri Skinny Plus Size Jeans in Houndstooth

I can totally see myself rocking these dressed up and down. And I like pattern play, so I would even rock them with other houndstooth pieces or even stripes.

Believe it or not, I actually like working out because In my heart of hearts I am an athlete. My sports of choice are volleyball, basketball & football, so being physical is really something I enjoy.

And being an earth girl, I prefer to flex my inner athlete outside rather than in the gym.  And although sometimes the weather in our fair city doesn't cooperate, Fall usually provides a lot of opportunity to work on defining my curves in the great outdoors.

So today was the perfect time to throw on my new Rykä Flextra kicks, grab a resistance band, my yoga mat and hit the park.

{Featured} A Pair For Every Ocassion With U by Kotex® #sp

the content and opinions expressed here are all my own ;). More on my sponsored posts policies here.

Raise your hand if you too have different pairs of undies for different occasions.

I have the pretty pairs that I wear when I am feeling all cute and feminine that add that little extra something, something.

And I also have my full coverage gym undies, you know the ones that aren't necessarily frilly lil thangs but they do their job by not bunching while I am trying to get my burn on.

And of course I also have the ones that are seamless and disappear under my more body conscious pieces while also holding things in place.

And while all of these undies play different roles and some are cuter than others, I want to make sure that during that time of the month, I am wearing the right protection to keep them all soil free.

And because every month can require a little something different when it comes to flow & ahh...capture, it's nice to be able to have more than one pad option to handle the (hopefully short lived) job at hand.

So today I am sharing another favorite from the U by Kotex w/3D Capture Core line. This time I want to talk a little about the U by Kotex® Clean Wear® Ultra Thin Pads. This is a thin, soft pad that lays really well in your undies and of course has the bonus of  the 3D Capture Core technology

It is a pad that can used on lighter flow days like maybe towards the end of your cycle or even if you wear a pad daily and want a one that is slightly thicker than a liner that protects your undies and helps to keep you drier.

And because U by Kotex® is confident that you will love the protection that comes from their 3D Capture Core line and find the perfect match for your needs, they are offering you a free multi-sample pack.

So click HERE and you too can save your (every occasion) undies!

{Featured} Celebrating My Daughter's Independence! #ValueCards #CollectiveBias #shop

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser.
All opinions are mine alone.  #ValueCards #CollectiveBias

I always tell people that my main goal as a mother was to raise my daughter to be independent. So needless to say, I want to celebrate the fact that at 20 years of age, she has been consistently working since she was 18 and will soon be moving into her own apartment.

I wanted to let her know how proud I am with the perfect greeting card and some pamper me goodies.

I remember moving into my own first apartment at the age of 19 and how exciting it can be and I also know how challenging it has been for her to find just the right place.
And I think we all know how stressful the actual moving can be. Right?

Well my cure all for stress & anything else that ails me, is usually a good long soak in a warm, fragrant bath.

So, to help her relieve whatever post move stress she may have once she gets settled in, I wanted to put together a little housewarming gift with a few "bath therapy" essentials for relaxation.

I have written before how much I miss the ritual of sending & receiving greeting cards, so I definitely wanted to include one with the goodies.

So, I headed to Walmart & was honestly somewhat surprised at the huge selection of $.47 and $.97 cents value cards that Hallmark has.

I ended up getting the super cute card above because it says exactly what I want to say to her, Way to Go Kiddo! You did it! Your Mama is proud! You better had (LOL..joking...well kinda)

I packed it along with some bath salts, lotions, a candle, a bath brush and sponge in a cute fabric basket that she can use for storage later.

And while I love social media & the birthday tweets, etc, an actual greeting card still brings the biggest smile to my face when I receive one, so I had to snag several copies of this card because I know I am not the only one who feels that way and it says Happy Birthday so perfectly.

And besides these, I also picked up quite a few others to celebrate fall (my favorite time of year) and the upcoming holidays.

Do you celebrate life's milestones & holidays with greeting cards?

I am looking forward to getting back to doing this so much more often. I truly miss the connection that comes from taking a little time to select the perfect card and letting others know that you are thinking about them.

Make sure you can check out Connections by Hallmark  & join the Hallmark Card Rewards Program. As a member you will receive a reward for every 5 Hallmark Cards that you buy. The rewards can be collected from Hallmark Cards that are purchased anywhere, but as noted above, Walmart has a HUGE selection.

Pretty sweet, right?

You can sign up for the Hallmark Card Rewards Program and also make sure you check out how other bloggers are sharing the love via Hallmark #ValueCards on Twitter!

Disclosure: As noted above, this is a featured post but as always, I only write what I really think. Learn more about my featured posts policy here.

{Featured} Pretty Little Things | #SaveTheUndies

This post is sponsored by U by Kotex® Pads and I will be compensated for writing it but don't get it twisted,
the content and opinions expressed here are all my own ;). More on my sponsored posts policies here.

Don't you just love pretty undies? You know, the kind that even if you are wearing the simplest outfit, you still feel a little extra cute knowing that you have them on.

That's how I feel about this lace and floral motif boyshort panty that I snagged a few weeks back. In addition to their cute factor, they are super comfortable and don't cut into my sensitive areas AND fully cover my tush! Viva la boyshorts!!

And speaking of sensitive areas, let's keep it real for a moment ladies and talk about that time of the month and how at one time or another we have all probably had the annoying misfortune of it ruining a great pair of undies. #sideeye

For me the worse time is when I am asleep, as gravity does her thang and things kinda flow however they choose.  Talk about waking up on the wrong side of the bed! NOOoooo!

So, when I was introduced to U by Kotex® featuring their 3D Capture Core and it's one-of-a-kind center made with technology that locks away liquid to help stop leaks, of course my interest was peeked.

I mean seriously, undies aren't cheap and who wants to lose the cute ones?  But the U by Kotex® 3D Capture Core technology is kinda amazing.  The pads are super thin, which is a huge plus in my book but they somehow handle the messy job.

And you don't have to just take my word for it (although you should..haha), you can snag a free multi-sample pack of your own HERE and help yourself #SaveTheUndies!

{Featured} For the Love of a Good Pair of Jeans: Rockin' dENiZEN Jeans

The fabs at People StyleWatch Style Hunters Network sent me a pair of the dENiZEN Essential Stretch Modern Boot Cut Jeans to check out.

I am normally not a boot cut girl but I have fallen totally in love with these jeans and they have definitely already found a home in my jeans arsenal.

For one, they are the softest, most comfy, hip hugging/loving jeans. They are super stretchy but they totally hold their shape. I also love the dark rinse which is called Limo.

Crazy windy day

I am geeked to share that TOMS, the company we all know & love for their generosity around the

{Sponsored} Your Future Is Calling: TEACH

This post is sponsored by Participant Media and I will be compensated for writing it but don't get it twisted,
the content and opinions expressed here are all my own ;). More on my sponsored posts policies here.

I wanted to share the TEACH documentary because I think it's probably pretty safe to say that at some point, most of us have encountered a great teacher who impacted our lives in a huge way.

For me it was my band teacher, Dale Crane. Everyone loved Mr. Crane because he was so invested and interested our lives. He shared his love of music and was a mentor but more importantly, he was a friend and remained one even after high school.

Davis Guggenheim’s third documentary film about education in America, TEACH, asks the question:
What Does It Take to Be A Great Teacher Today?

The documentary, hosted by Queen Latifah follows four dedicated teachers from different schools across the country over the course of one school year. The filmmakers interviewed numerous schools in different states and filmed more than 50 teachers, Guggenheim says, before narrowing the field to their chosen four.

TEACH is airing Wednesday, 9/18 on Pivot at 8PM ET/PT, be sure to check it out!

Here's a preview.

TEACH gives viewers a window into the challenges, demands and rewards of teaching, with the purpose of elevating and promoting the profession, as well as engaging new teachers and supporting current teachers.

TEACH shows that for the best teachers, it’s not just a job but a mission. It illustrates how tenacity, passion and a belief in innovation drive these educators as they navigate the daily ups and downs of the 2012-2013 school year. These educators use conventional and unconventional methods and do whatever it takes to overcome obstacles and strive for success.

Also, did you know it is estimated that within the next ten years, 65% of America’s teachers will retire? I didn't and I think it is really important to look at the profession of teaching and it's future with new eyes.

Want to learn more? Go to takepart.com/teach and find out how you can help play a role in keeping public education strong, vibrant and innovative.

Also, I would love to hear your stories about the great teachers you know, so please share them in the comments.
