Plus Size {Fashion} Pick of the Day: Black Gingham Trench Coat

Hey Delights!

Trench coats are such a classic style and I love that I can own the style in so many colors and fabrications. I literally just searched my site and here are all of the trench coats that I have posted. There are even a few that I never posted but as you will witness, the trench coat love around here is real.

My trench coats in: creambright pink, neutral pink yellow long, yellow short, white blue & white stripes, black and white print, bright blue, black, faux leather sleeves, zebra print and cape trench.

Obviously trench coats are one of those pieces that I can never have too many of.  So although it's snowing outside as I write this and Spring is a few weeks away, this is the time to get those select Spring pieces to add to your wardrobe.

And when I saw this black gingham trench from the latest Who What Wear drop at Target, I knew I needed it in my collection.

It also comes in a classic tan color but the gingham version is just so much more fun. And I love that they styled it with the floral print because it shows you that you can really play the print off of others.

There are also some really pretty pieces currently available from Who What Wear and of course all the other brands at Target, and they just dropped their Universal Thread denim line.  So even if you aren't looking for a trench, there is sure to be something that could definitely work as a Spring pop to your wardrobe ohhh and don't forget their clearance section, there are lots of sweaters, etc that you could wear now at pretty good sale prices.

Lastly, there has been conversation regarding the fact that not all of the new items have been dropping in plus sizes at the same time that they have in "regular sizes" and Who What Wear responded on their Instagram stories to this by saying it was a production issue but that everything would eventually be available in plus. And I will be watching this because for one, they should keep their word and two, I want this blazer and and these pants in my size.😊

Have you checked out the latest Who What Wear drop? What are your favorite pieces?

I am so in love with this puff sleeve sweater! I had debated getting it for weeks and one day I walked into Eloquii and finally just snagged it in red and I totally side eyed myself the entire time I first wore it for not getting it sooner. It is beautiful and so soft and elegant. It is currently 50% off & available in 4 colors and I think I am going to get it in the charcoal heather and possibly the ivory leaf color also.

Hey Delights!

I finally rocked this amazing black velvet dress by Ellen Tracy that has been sitting in my closet for at least a year and a half. The dress is a size 16, which I believe is the highest size that the brand stocks and although I am not a size 18/20, it fits me perfectly. I found the same dress in this exact size here.

Hey Delights!

I love inspirational quotes and sayings and I knew the second that I saw this empowerment t-shirt that I had to add it to my collection. I don't know about you, but I love being underestimated.

I love people telling me that I can't do something. It is the ultimate fuel for me. Not so much that I want to be able to tell them "ha fool, you don't know me" when I actually do what they say that I can't or shouldn't, it's more about proving to myself that I am capable beyond any limitations, self imposed or otherwise.

Hey Delights!

Welcome back to another episode of The CurvaCast. It's been a minute so I am sharing quite a bit in this episode of the CurvaCast. As mentioned in my Universal Standard giveaway post, there are clips from my interview with Alexandra Walden, the co-founder of Universal Standard. {HintI also mention the answer to the giveaway during the podcast around minute 39}, so if you missed my Instagram stories, you can find it there to enter.😊
this episode. As mentioned in my

I went to see Janet Jackson in concert and she was AMAZING! I haven't danced as much as I did that night in a very long time. And because it was Janet, I had to go with a rocker chic but movable vibe, so I rocked my one shoulder faux leather top again (last seen here). There are also a couple of travel tips, recaps of the amazing events that I have been to and how they have inspired me. And a rant about brands who blow it with bogus promotions, and how all who appear woke, ain't and the need for women to stop it with the self deprecation and a few other things.

{What I Wore} Peplum Caped Pea Coat + Sparkle

Hey Delights!

I am going to see my all time favorite artist, Janet Jackson tonight and I am so excited. Janet has always held a very special place in my heart. Growing up, her role as Penny on Good Times was the only "ME" that I saw on television and I have loved her since.  The last time that I saw her in concert was in 2011 so needless to say, I am stoked to get to see her doing her thing once again.

The look that I rocked yesterday was somewhat of a homage to the whole Rhythm Nation vibe. I have already shared in the video here how I feel about this peplum cape jacket . It is just 💙.

I am not one of those people who think that sequins are only for "special occasions". The way I look at it, every day that I am alive is a special occasion, so I wear my sequin jeans (seen here) like I do any other pair of pants. I am thinking about adding these blue sequin pull ons to my arsenal and I also featured a couple of other cute options on my liketoknow.it page.

These boots are an old favorite from Fergalicious that I have pulled out every year since I purchased them. They are biker chic cool, great with jeans and the heel height makes them just perfect for every day.

I am so EXCITED for tonight and I will of course be sharing some of tonight's concert on my social media pages, so you know what to do! 👇

{What I Wore} Head to Toe Au Faux + The Perfect LBD For EVERY Body

Hey Delights!

I attended a pre-opening event & tour of the new Eloquii Chicago store and a couple of weeks later I attended the official grand opening. I pulled out my fab Violeta by Mango faux leather cape & rocked a gorgeous asymmetrical one shoulder faux leather top with a vintage Eloquii skirt from a year or so ago & some oldie but goodie slinkback shoeties (similar style available in 2 colors).

Hey Delights!

As I mentioned here, we welcomed the new Eloquii store to Chicago last week and if you are following me on Snapchat or Instagram then you know that I completely fell IN LOVE with both of these coats.

There is no secret around here that I am obsessed with capes. Like OBSESSED. I mean, the love is real, REAL. SooOO of course I was instantly drawn to both of these beauties.

This tie neck cape coat is such an amazing piece. It has this great relaxed cocoon but structured vibe to it and the color is so gorgeous. And that tie neck adds such a classy touch to it. It is a great transitioning piece for Fall and Winter. For Fall I would probably rock it like I did here, with a thick, cable knit cardigan sweater. And for winter, I would put a jacket under it like I did here with my faux suede piece.
The details of my clothes under the coat are here.

And this peplum cape jacket! OHHH MYY GAWDDD!

Hey Delights!

I have literally been living in these fabulous slip on kicks. I love the pom poms and they are super comfortable. The weather here in Chicago has been so crazy and unpredictable and on some days really chilly, so I was able to pull out that fab white trench coat that I purchased on mega sale a couple of months ago.

I also threw on my favorite City Chic jeans, these black coated corset jeans (seen here), which I live in also and which are currently on a sweet sale during the Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale. They are just so comfortable and well...sexy chic.😄 I especially love the gold button and zipper details.

And I patiently watched this bucket bag for weeks, waiting for it to go on sale and snagged it now that it is 50% off. It's so lightweight but it holds a ton. PERFECT!
p.s. these slip ons come in 3 colors and come in medium and wide width and go up to a size 13!

Hello Delights!

April showers bring...leopard rain boots & fab trench coat moments. I purchased this Via Spiga trench coat back in December for such a crazy deal and although mama nature wasn't ready to let Spring be great, GREAT just yet, I pulled it out & rocked it last week.

And while my trench coat collection runs really deep with lots of colors, I did not have a white one so I snagged this T Tahari single breasted trench. It has a lace flap back which is so pretty and today it is only $24 in my size (2x). Win WIN!!!!!!

I have had these boots forever and all LOVE to the inventor of the bubble umbrella 🌂.While folks were wet & struggling & the wind 💨was breaking their regular umbrellas like they were made of paper, I was dry, dancing in the streets & singing in the rain.💃

Cheers to April and let's hope all this crazy rain will bring the most beautiful flowers!

{What I Wore} Valentine's Blush

Hello Delights!

As I mentioned in my post featuring the faux leather peg leg pants, I really want to have fun with fashion and rock things that I don't normally rock. So when I saw this soft pink crepe blazer and ankle grazer cigarette pants, I had to have them & I am thinking about getting them in the lavender color that is currently available.

While I LOVE color and wear it as much as possible, I rarely wear pink. And I definitely did not have a pink pant suit in my life. And this is such a sweet blush of pink. While I went pretty dressy for this look with the deep v bodysuit & floral heels, I can't wait to dress these pieces down also.

{Five Fab} For the Weekend Vol. 12

Happy Friday Delights!

Welcome to the first volume of the Five Fab For the Weekend for 2017! I am working on editing my first interview for the CurvaCast and I am excited to share it with you.

So much going on in the world but this is a happy place today so let's get into the Five Fab!

Shop:  While it may not feel like it but Spring will be here before and Eloquii is having a buy 3 get 50% off sale so I did a little shopping this morning to pick up a few Spring things. I love this cold shoulder wrap dress. It also comes in green and I almost got that color but I own several green dresses but not one coral dress in this tone, so I went with this color.

UPDATE: I ordered this dress and it was just as beautiful in person as on the picture but the straps were so ridiculously long that there was no way to wear it (check out the reviews on the site). I thought about altering it but I decided against it and returned it. And that really sucks because it is a beautiful piece but there was obviously some manufacturing issue with the straps.

{What I Wore} Teddy Bear Faux Fur Coat & Blooms

Hey Delights!

One of the things that I promised myself during the 12 Days of January was that I would do something small but special for myself every weekend. So now that I am on my way back to wellness and up and at it again, Sunday I went and picked up some flowers. Nothing expensive. I got them at Trader Joe's for like $10. But they are beautiful and they make me smile, which is all that matters.

And because as I mentioned here, I wanted to lighten up my energy, I pulled out my teddy bear coat. I love this coat so much. It's totally like rocking a cozy blanket 😘

{What I Wore} Popped A Little Powder Blue Spring on this Winter

After being sick for what felt like FOREVER, I have really been in search of things that give me a little more pep in my step, so I have ditched my beloved long black puffer coat (seen here & here) for my more colorful ones and I already feel lighter.

Saturday I went to see a great play (review forthcoming) and I pulled out this powder blue beauty that I got from Old Navy forever ago to rock over a catsuit. It is fuzzy and such a great color that you can't help but feel good in it.

Here are a few other lighter, fab, fuzzy winter coats to put a little Spring in your Winter.
