{What I Wore} Floral Bell Sleeve Jacket + Pencil Jeans

Hey Delights!

As I mentioned when I featured this floral bell sleeve jacket as a Plus Size Pick, I love this style and was somewhat impatiently waiting for someone to drop it in plus size.  And when they did, I snatched it up on first sight and thankfully I can report that I was not disappointed.

This jacket is gorgeous. The fabric is a great weight and the seams on the flowers add a great texture to it. It is a swing jacket, and as you can see in my happy dance video, it has this great flow and elegance to it even when wearing it with jeans as I was.

{What I Wore} Red Fit & Flare

Hey Delights!

I have written about this many times about heart disease and how it has affected me and my family but it bears repeating over & over again that heart disease & stroke are the #1 KILLERS OF WOMEN.  And while Go Red For Women Day was a big day of national awareness, the American Heart Association is a cause we can & should support year round.

I own lots of red dresses but of course you can never have too many, so as I mentioned here, I made a quick Macy's run (who is having a sweet Valentine's Day sale) and purchased this fit and flare dress.

{What I Wore} Colorfully In Vested

Hello Delights!

I have had this fabulously colorful faux fur vest for years now. I remember when it first arrived that I couldn't stop wearing it around the house. It even ended up getting some love in my Warby Parker Home Try On Glasses review video. A faux fur vest is such a perfect layering piece for this time of the year, so I pulled it out for a Sunday of shopping and theater.
I just LOVE it!

{What I Wore} Duck'n Into Weekend

Hello delights! Today we are waking up in a frigid Chicago.  It is currently 15° as I am writing this but yesterday although it snowed lightly, I was able to rock one of my moto jackets & throw one of my reversible capes over it and hit the streets.

We finally got to see moonlight and I loved it. It made me sad but I loved the moments in it that showed the depth of our human capacity, compassion and connection. Mahershala Ali's Sag Awards acceptance speech pretty much summed it up.

{Beauty} Pop Post | Vol. 1 - Fall Nails Must Have

Hey delights I have decided that I'm going to start this new series called Pop Post because I am always coming across things that I love but a lot of times I don't get to share them on the blog.

So Pop Posts will mainly consist of screenshots from my phone of things I want and I think you will too. You should expect to see everything from magazine snaps, to bill boards, to street style snaps and more.

To set off Pop Posts, I was going through my magazines via my Texture magazine app and this particular picture confirmed something that I have been saying anyway, that I NEED the Kerry Washington OPI Washington DC Collection!

Look at those COLORS!!! They all scream FALL, sexy, warm and YASS!!

Walgreens {Beauty} Enthusiast

I don't know about you but I love getting shopping rewards & I am a member of all the programs at my favorite stores. I spend quite a bit on beauty at Walgreens because they carry a lot of the brands that I love at prices that I love even more.

So, I am stoked that they have just launched Beauty Enthusiast, which is their new beauty club within their Balance® Rewards loyalty program. Sign up is free, and Beauty Enthusiast members will receive 5,000 Balance Rewards points for every $50 spent on cosmetics, skin care, hair care, oral care, grooming, sun care, fragrance and bath product purchases.

And no, this is not a sponsored post.  I am just sharing with my friends. because I am sure we all know spending $50 is easy to do on few a Walgreens beauty runs, right?  So why not get rewarded? And I am in there regularly picking up lippies, bath products, etc. so I am about to rack up on some rewards.

Here I am rocking one of my most recent purchases, the Milani Amore Matte Lip Creme in the color "Attraction" and it is a gorgeous, rich red. I love the matte formula on this one. It's not super dry and the color pay off and staying power is the bomb dot com. I am going to pick up a couple of other colors online because I have not been able to find them again in store.
Check out links to similar shoes, etc here.

Oh and side note: let's talk for a minute about this Cold Shoulder Keyhole Dress. I purchased it months ago and took it New Orleans with me to see Beyonce because I knew the weather was going to be warm and it was perfect for it. This dress wears like pajamas...I mean really. It's so easy and comfortable & I got lots of compliments on it.

Beauty Enthusiasts also get access to free samples and exclusive promotions and coupons, as well as special beauty offers, etc. In addition, members will receive a one-time digital coupon for 20 times the everyday points on any beauty and personal care purchase to welcome them to the club.

And here are a couple of the current MUST SHOP beauty sales that will save you major moola and get you to your first reward status in no time.
What are your favorite store rewards programs?

{Beauty} School Dropout

The title of this post is not only of course kitschy but also true, as I am a beauty school dropout. Years back I was a student at the University of Aesthetics but just could not handle being in class for four hours each night after work, so sadly I bailed. Drop out status aside, my love for all things skincare and beauty has not died.
As of late, I am one of those girls who likes to dabble in makeup for fun. And actually you will rarely see me in makeup (especially when it's hot) and doing full makeup posts and not because I don't love it, because I LOVE IT! But it's just not my thang to be a full out beauty blogger but that does not stop me from buying up a bunch a stuff and playing with it. If you follow me on snapchat, you witness this on a regular basis.

Anyway, recently I came upon this Beauty School Dropout palette from NYX while strolling thru Ulta and snagged it up.

{Beauty} NYX Wants All My Money!

NYX is definitely one of my go to brands. They are so affordable that you get to play with so many different colors and formulations. Below are some of the colors from the brand that I already have (oh and I posted this great soft matte brown girl perfect neutral I just got on my snapchat yesterday) and now I am about to add some of these gorgeous colors to my collection.

Are you loving these glosses?

{Five Fab} Ways to Break The Winter Slog

Hey Fabs!

Am I the only one who thinks that December & January are like the sun and the moon? In December even if it's cold, everything is glitzy and festive and glam but come January, especially in the cities that really experience real winter, like here in Chicago, everything gets soooo bleak.

And that's a bummer because these cold months are the ones where we really NEED all the sparkle and bling uplifting to make it thru all the harshness.

And with the below zero temps we are having, a girl tends to be buried in layers and cloaked in dark colors and super into hibernating, which is why there has only been one OOTD post so far this month..sigh.

But it hit me the other day...I aint going out like that!  I refuse to let winter drag me down into dullsville any longer, so let Operation Break The January Slog begin.

Here are five things I will be doing:

1. Of course shaking things up via beauty is one of the easiest tweaks you can make, so I will be rocking my brightest nail polish shades, like the ones below from my pampering party & lippies and even werking some new eye shadow looks to keep things fresh and bright.

{Beauty} Products For The Well Groomed Guy

Disclosure: This post was written in partnership with People StyleWatch as a member of their Style Hunters program but don't get it twisted, I only write what I really think. Learn more about my featured posts policy here.

Hey Fabs!

As I mentioned in my gifts for gold lovers post, I like when brands put together gift guides and this Ulta Beauty Well Groomed Guy gift guide is a good one, full of lots of others for the the guys on your list who like to keep themselves well groomed like the two products I chose to share below.

A lot of the guys I know think that we women fuss way too much with our hair and makeup, etc and they like to keep things simple.  And while some would think keeping it simple would mean just good old soap, water and a toothbrush, there are a few other simple ways for a guy to keep himself well groomed.

{Beauty} Review: Baldwin Moisturizing Lotion Savvy Care for Men

Hey Fabs!

Another reason why I brought Sean on as a contributor to the blog was so that in addition to fashion, we could share a wide range of products geared towards men.

And to start off, here is a skincare review. We were contacted to try out Baldwin Moisturizing Lotion Savvy Care for Men. It is a product made just for men that contains dead sea minerals and natural oils, etc to address how their face can be affected by shaving and the elements.

{Beauty} Finding Joy In The Journey Featuring Origins Three Part Harmony #ad

Hey Fabs!
I wrote a little bit about this on my birthday post but I wanted to share more with you about how my life has changed in such wonderful ways as I have gotten older. I truly believe that the biggest reason for this change is that I have been consumed with gratitude & just living each moment as they come.

And as a result, this year I have accomplished things that I never even really thought were possible. For one, I have started running. This was huge for me because I have health issues that affect my legs.  And while I walked many a race and even walked a marathon back in my 20's, the last thing that you could have told me at the beginning of this year that I would be doing is running.

But I am

{Beauty} Review: Colgate Optic White Platinum Express White Toothpaste #TargetStyle

Hey Fabs!

Did you snag the Fall Target Beauty Box?  As I mentioned in my unboxing of the box, I am somewhat of a fanatic about my teeth and I try to keep them as white as I can.

It's been a while since I have used any kind of whitening product & my teeth could definitely use a little whitening boost, so I have started using the Colgate Optic White Platinum Express White Toothpaste that came in the box.

Get Excited Fabs! | The Fall 2015 Target {Beauty} Box Is Here! #TargetStyle #sp

Hey Fabs!

It's that time again. The always highly anticipated Target Beauty Box has dropped and I was so excited to un-box it and check out the goods. And it did not disappoint me. The fall Target Beauty Box is packed with products to love on your hair, skin and my biggest obsession, teeth!

Here's what you will get when you snatch up this box:

Sonia Kashuk Art of {Beauty} Limited Edition Collection

Hey Lovelies!

While the main theme of my studio is white and gold, I am always looking for pops of color to add that little something extra to the space.

And these Sonia Kashuk Art of Beauty Limited Collection pieces are just the type of color pop that I was looking for. They were created in homage to Linda Mason and consists of bags, brush sets and more. I love the pop art feel of them and of course the gold touches.

The vanity tray and brush cup will look so great on my desk. And as I am also working to get my makeup and beauty products collection edited and organized, I decided to snag this pretty brush set and pitch a lot of my older ones.

The pieces will start becoming available in stores beginning April 12th but I love that they are available for pre-order online NOW, so there's no drama involved in getting them.

What say you? Are you loving this collection?

{Beauty} Checking Out Head & Shoulders Moisture Care Collection #sp

This post is sponsored by P&G.

When the opportunity came for me to try the new Head & Shoulders Moisture Care Collection I jumped at it because this brutal winter and having my natural hair out 100% of the time coupled with the fact that I have been mainly wearing my hair blow dried and/or flat ironed has been disastrous to my hair and scalp.

The constant need for hats coupled with the alternate cold outdoors & dry heat indoors almost everywhere you go has definitely done a number on my hair & scalp so I am in major 911 mode and in need of products that will moisture my hair and sooth my itchy scalp.

The Head & Shoulders Moisture Care Collection consists of 3 products, a 2 in 1 Shampoo/Conditioner, a Co-Wash and a Scalp Soother.

{Beauty} Cover Girl Colorlicious Lip Lava Lip Gloss

There are certain things that I just can't live with out and products that keep my lips soft and pretty are high on that list.

So you will find at a minimum 5 tubes of some type of lip product in my purse at any given time. Recently I came across these Cover Girl Colorlicious Lip Lava Lip Glosses in a magazine and then I saw a blogger boo, Kimberlee rocking one so I scooped up a couple of shades to try.

I chose the shades Live Love Lava and Mauva Lava. These glosses are pretty sweet. They have the high shine of a gloss, the coverage of lipstick with the added bonus of a little iridescent sparkle.

{Life} My Happy Surprise #NaBloPoMo

Hello Lovelies!

Today's #NaBloPoMo Joy month post prompt is to:

Talk about a surprise that made you happy

Well this is totally an easy one for me because I received a lovely surprise just last week.

My Joe has over the course of the last 18 years made it a point from time to time to give me gifts on holidays, even the ones that aren't usually gift giving affairs.

And this Thanksgiving was one such occasion and I was surprised with this INSANE Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb gift set.

And to top it off, it has my initials, JGT engraved on the bottle AND the box has these lights built into. How fun is that? I was like a little kid on Christmas when I pulled the little tab out and they came on.

Joe knows that this fragrance is one of my top three all time favorites and I had been out of it for months but we hadn't had any conversations about it, so it was definitely a thoughtful, happy surprise.

Have you had any happy surprises lately?

ps. did you enter the cape giveaway? winning it would be a happy surprise, right?!

{Hair Chronicles} It's Time For A Pop of Color

It's been a long time since I have colored my hair. Mainly because I had been rocking my wigs for the last couple of years and of course I could do those in any color.

I am not a big hair girl and usually only really care about what color it is. But being natural now requires that I put a little bit more effort into it and for the most part, I am enjoying the diversity of it.

And so lately in addition to rocking it frohawked, afro'd and straight, I have been itching to go back to my old ways of changing up my hair color seasonally and now I just need to decide what color I am going to rock.

What Color Should My Hair Be

The first picture is from August when I first started wearing my hair out again. You can get a feel for it better here. It is majority black at this point because I have had it cut to clean up my ends.

The picture top right is the color that I normally go for. I have only had my hair colored by a professional once and normally do it myself. And this is the kinda golden brown color I try to achieve.

Joe likes my hair black. I think it kinda washes me out and just doesn't do for my complexion what a lighter, more vibrant color does.

And the bottom right red was a one time thing for me but I liked it. I might go that route again mainly because I can achieve this type of look with a rinse or semi-permanent product and hopefully do so with minimal damage to my hair unlike if I was going to go lighter.

Which color do you think I should go with?

{Events} Cosmopolitan’s Fun Fearless Life Weekend in NYC #FunFearlessLife

Cosmopolitan Magazine is hosting it's first ever Fun Fearless Life Conference in New York City this weekend, Nov 8th & 9th and yours truly will be there covering it.

I love the name that they chose. It just speaks to everything that I feel life should be, an adventure. One where you don't sit on the sidelines but where you go out and meet life and all of her ups and downs fearlessly.

On tap for the Fun Fearless Life Conference will be some of the most AWEsome and influential women like Sophia Amoruso, the Nasty Gal founder & Kelly Osbourne (yes miss fab hair herself). And the guys will be there too, including twitter CEO Dick Costolo. They will all be sharing their take on life, careers, health, dating and everything in between, which I am sure will consist of a lot of lessons and laughter.

This is a Cosmo event, so of course there will be beauty makeovers and shopping but I am most excited about the scheduled events. They will cover a full range of topics from fashion to fitness (with my crush Jillian Michaels), career planning and social media upgrading to home ownership.

So, if you will be in NYC, snag a ticket and tweet me so that we can connect or follow along via the #FunFearlessLife tag and my twitter and instagram feeds as I will of course be sharing ALOT!.
