Rewind: @ Love and Pieces

Skirt: Lane Bryant Top: Old Navy
As previously mentioned, I hosted a shopping party that I dubbed Fall into Fabulous, at Love and Pieces jewelry boutique.

The boutique is located in the Wicker Park/Bucktown area of our fab city.
My goal, although I would love to keep all the goodies for myself, was to get the word out that this fabulous shop exists.

It's an accessories heaven with lots of unique jewelry, vegan bags and more.  They offer custom pieces as well.

They have also started stocking fabulous jackets and more clothing options are coming.

The owner, Michelle is such a great lady and I am all about promoting women who are doing their own thang.

Once again i would like to thank my sponsors

I really appreciate their support. They are clients, friends, friends of friends and all the best at what they do.

Fall Into Fabulous!

I just wrapped up my first ever Fall Into Fabulous event at the Wicker Park/Bucktown boutique Love and Pieces!

I wanted to take a quick moment to thank my fabulous sponsors who were so generous and accommodating!

They all are bang up at what they do and I would highly recommend them all.

A blog post of pics and more highlights from the evening to come!

And a huge hug to the ladies who came out! I had a blast!

so i gave Stitchfix a try...

{update} i never got a second Stitch fix because per Catherine Hill, they are only "starting to "dabble" in plus sizes but we are not there yet. Unfortunately - we don't have much new plus size inventory to send you this week that would fit your style profile."

She also informed me that plus size was her background, as she founded La Grande Dame, which really only served to annoy me because i would hope that she of all people would have taken more interest in plus size customers.

Or that as a business in general, if you have nothing to offer a customer, don't put it out there as if you can, by having them go thru a multi page profile.

~~~~~
when Anh of 9to5Chic posted these looks featuring some of the pieces that she had received from stitchfix, i was instantly intrigued by the premise of the service.
the deal is, you fill out a profile, pretty typical nowadays with shopping sites, right?
but then things get interesting and Stitchfix sets itself apart.
the stylists then take your profile answers and choose pieces to ship to you to try out.
they send you an email letting you know that your selections are ready.
you pay an initial $20 which will be credited towards the items that you choose to keep.
they ship the items off.
you get them and the goal is to mix them into your wardrobe with the items that you already own.
here are the pieces that i received.
Modern Vintage Chicago
I went to the Modern Vintage sneak peak last night and I highly recommend that if you are in Chicago that you put it on your must do list this weekend!
And here are some of the reasons why!
Like this insane bag that Ramsey Jay Prince is modeling!
missoni for target giveaway...
i am sure that I don't have to write about the collection that was missoni for target.
it was of course the biggest and most anticipated designer collaboration to date for target and the demand was over the top.
while there was no way that i was going to go and stand in lines, a few days after the sale crashed target's website, i logged on and made a purchase.
so, as i tweeted earlier....
i have decided to do a twitter followers only giveaway of this adorable bag
Breast Cancer Awareness
This post is a compilation of several posts that I have written here on Curvatude and on my old blog PSD.
Since 2006 I have run a campaign highlighting the importance of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Why?
Because in my mind, anything that effects the health of women (and men to a much smaller degree) in such a devastating manner as this disease does, should be on everyone's get the word out list.
And obviously not just during one month but it is great that there is such a huge push during what has become known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
I normally do links to products and host giveaways but this year I just wanted to share information.
I have spent time checking the sources of the information that I have previously posted to make sure that I am highlighting the latest information correctly. Of course I am writing this post as a resource to bring about awareness and not as medical advice.
Earlier today I watched Giuliana Rancic talk about just being diagnosed with breast cancer and how she had kicked and screamed about going for a mammogram because at age 36 she felt she was too young.
As I watched, in addition to chiding myself for not having gone for a screening since my 40th birthday, I hoped that women, in particular young women would use her example as an impetus to perform self exams, get screened and encourage others to do the same.
Below are links to some of the main topics that I wanted to highlight:
Modern Vintage Chicago Giveaway
Back in April I shared a bit about my trip to Modern Vintage and some of the goods that I saw.
Well, welcome to fall and now that the season for it's sister event, the Randolph Street Market has come to an end, Modern Vintage returns.
Vintage dealers from all over and Chicago Indie designers can be found under one roof, selling everything from fashion and jewelry to textiles and vanities and everything in between.
As a special treat, the folks at Modern Vintage has given me a pass for 2 to bestow upon one of you.
So, if you live in the Chicagoland area and can attend Modern Vintage next weekend (Oct 22-23) and you would like to go gratis, enter to win by answering the following question.
Does your style lean more towards Modern or Vintage?
I dress based on my mood most of the time and while I feel I am more modern than vintage, I love vintage, especially pieces from the 50's worn on divas like Sofia Loren.
arm kabling ching giveaway...
i have a lot of bracelets & bangles. i love wearing and mixing and matching them.
and for months now, the trend of wearing a bunch of them at once has been all over the blogesphere.
the man repeller coined this trend as the arm party and everybody is rockin it.
i was strolling thru some of the shops in my hood and came across this funky bangle set at the aldo outlet.
got tatted...
temporarily for fun...
i ordered this temporary tattoo from tattly to rock during my time in NYC last month but a paypal address snafu caused a mailing delay (that the folks at tattly took care of with no extra grief--thanks much!!)
isn't it fun?
Full Body Photo Project
Jessica Kane, (my first Curves for Days spotlight) is still up to her motivating ways and has created a fabulous new project called the Full Body Photo Project.
What is the Full Body Photo Project?
The Full Body Photo Project is a chance for women to show the world just how fabulous they are, by posting, you guessed it, a picture of themselves from head to toe.
Here is the picture that I submitted!
There a bunch of sponsors who are giving away cool prizes, so hop over to the Full Body Photo Project and share what ya mama gave ya!.
Last night I was invited to the first ever Ross Dress for Less pre opening sneak peak to check out what we can expect to find at the 12 (YES 12!! Get excited!!) new stores that they are opening in the Chicagoland area this Saturday.
I took my friend Gene' along to check out the goods.
although we are in the midst of an indian summer and i had to pull out some of my summer clothes, for me this fall, it is all about prints and textures, shiny gold and rich deep colors.
