a few months back i went to an event and a bottle of the body shop's love etc eau de parfum was in the goodie bag and after one spritz, i fell completely in love...
while i rocked it during those cold months,
it is a perfect warm weather fragrance for me because it is light and fresh.
a pic i posted to my instagram a couple of months ago
heavy fragrances and warm weather just do not mix for me. i end up with headaches and nausea and all that...
when i found out the fragrance notes in it, i realized why every time i wear it i just feel happier.
i used to make candles (which i have been thinking about doing again...stay tuned) and i always tried to squeeze a bit of bergamot in all of my candles...
it also has jasmine and neroli and other delicious notes.
and i love that it's not crazy expensive. at $25 for a 50ml bottle i can indulge in it as much as i want
And the last time I was there, i was told that they are going to put it in a purse atomizer, which would mean that i wont have to carry my big bottle around with me ;-)
do you have a fragrance that lifts your spirits with every spritz?
"Knowing my self is sexy. Being in the moment is sexy. Bravery is sexy. Dancing is sexy. Walking with oooomph is sexy. Sharing my emotions is sexy. Humour about my self is sexy. Asking for what I want is sexy. Not apologizing for who I am is sexy"
and i couldn't agree with her more!

the summer solstice roared into chicago yesterday with hot and humid temps and after a day of running errands, i took a bit of rest and then revamped up to go out and listen to some live music...
i finally wore this crazy fabulous hat that i took off of a display head at h&m because it was the last one i could find in the store...it was $10 and i had to have it because i had been looking for a new large brim summer hat for a couple of weeks
while i will just let it flop when i am at the beach, i pinned it back otherwise i would have spent my entire day constantly moving it out of my face...
and because somehow playboy made it's way into my summer solstice post yesterday, i decided to wear the necklace that i got at one of their events that i attended
the dress that i wore was actually pretty laid back...just a simple summer dress that was easy and relaxed and perfect for running around town...
dress: old navy | hat: h&m | shoes: gabriella rocha | bag: b makowsky |
watch: anne klein | belt: don't recall | necklace: gifted | ring: don't recall |
earrings: forever21
part two of the day and i was off to Sequin for an event that i will post about soon. i got something so fantastic from them, that i can not wait to rock!
then i hit up rockit chicago to see the knocks and DMC, yes DMC from the famous Run DMC and it was so much fun!
i ran into the sweetheart, ryan of bowtie memoirs. i love his style!
i was with my girl contessa from thinking black girl and my hat made the evening rounds too because i just didn't have the strength to deal with my hair...le sigh...i can't wait until it gets out of this growing in stage
and then we were joined by my girl janice of gypset proper
look at how they are squeezin my brim! LOL
the dress i wore, i have had for years...i threw it on over a slip dress from another dress and that was it...in the summer i don't like to fuss with clothes, well actually i don't like to fuss with clothes ever...
dress: don't recall | hat: h&m | shoes: my black flats | belt: don't recall | earrings: kfleye
all in all a really fun, full day...i love summertime!
and sport animal prints and gold and drink iced tea out of playboy goblets!
POW!
;-)
for months now, i have snagged a bunch of the sally hansen salon effects but i haven't used them much, so i decided to enter summer with a bang and mix it up a bit..
i seriously can't wrap my brain around how fast time is moving!
it feels like the opening weekend of the randolph street market just happened, and its already time for the second weekend of the season...
as previously mentioned, i took a boatload of pics, click on the one in this post to see all of them on my facebook page and plan to get your shop on this weekend!

actually sequins would work any day for me because i just love them!
so, this tank that i have had for a year or so always ends up in circulation no matter what season it is...
its just fun!
i moved my workout stuff over to try to get in better light and i definitely like these pics better than the ones in the corner...so excuse the dumbbells ;-) oh and i am ordering one of these lightscoop's to help with the shadows in the pictures...has anyone else used one before?
my jeans are actually a bit too long, which is rare for my 5'10 frame but when i wear heels, they are perfect but with flats, they drag the ground and because i don't want to ruin them, i roll them...
and i love these bangles...i mean seriously, they represent everything good about life.
jeans: calvin klein |sequin top: unknown |sweater: american rag girl via macy's |bag: london fog audrey bag |shoes: report | watch: anne klein |ring and earrings: don't recall
i didn't take many food porn pics because the sweet girl at amarit was charging my phone while i ate!
but i did snap my cucumber salad, which is such a simple yet incredibly damnlicious salad!
it felt so good to just sit in a nice restaurant with some mags and enjoy a quiet lunch...
i then went to see my guy Ronnie at joseph michaels salon, who whipped my brows into shape and took my tail home to rest...
sunday, was rather chill...other than walking the beast, i was in the house most of the day...
i played around with some more crackle...but i was so impatient that i didn't really let the colors dry, so its kinda clumpy and i ended up removing it this morning...
i headed out to one of my fav spots, home goods...
i love that place...its of course like tjmaxx but usually more relaxed...i wrote about some of the goods here...
i used one of the gorgeous huge mirrors for sale to get a lighter picture of my outfit
and i am glad that i did because the pics i took at home before i left turned out blah...

i am still learning how to use my new camera and i need to move some things around in my flat so that i can set my camera up and take them in a different spot, until then, i am forced to use the darker corner by the door.
anyway....there are a bunch of fun events on the calendar this week and i am looking forward to having some fun!
i am so glad for the weekend and i am keeping my drag simple and relaxed.
i have been living in my ballerina flats because they are just ridiculously comfortable...i am now hating that i didn't buy two pairs in black.

belt: forever21+ i think
necklace: forever21

A new shopping event, Sassy City Chicks hit the Chicago scene tonight and the ladies (and gents) came out to play.
I must admit that I didn't have the highest hopes for this event simply because lately these types of events just haven't been much fun.
They are usually too crowded, too hot and the vendors are usually not that diverse. And when they have food, there isn't usually much for those of us who don't eat meat.
The only thing they usually get right and that they have plenty of is drinks...
So needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised tonight.
It was in a nice location, Venue One and it was set up well, with the exception of the drink area, which i would have split into two different locations to not crowd one area so much.
There was a variety of vendors on hand that weren't just the same old same old vendors that we see at so many events and i even purchased some bath goodies from kejor
who have a cool video on the home page of their website....check it out!
and bobbi kahn design, who has some really great pieces.
very substantial and colorful...
And there were vendors from other states like this one from Florida, vintage reign, who had a fantastic bag that i was this close....to buying...(the red one in the corner, check out a similar one here)
i didn't follow my own take two shots rule, so the pic is kinda blurry
Oh, I almost forgot about the goodie bag...
it was ok. the one i got had a pair of panties in it that would never fit my goods but the softlips balm, echo tools brush, portable brush/mirror and nick chavez hair mist were decent.
All in all, it was a good first date for Sassy City Chicks in Chicago and I would attend it again.
