Fab Things That I Am Currently Loving!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back to Black..

The Curvatude Hair Chronicles continues..

As previously blogged, my hair and I have a somewhat of a give or take relationship.

After writing that post back in January, I did in fact cut my hair but I didn't cut it as much as I had originally thought that I would, so it really didn't feel like much to share, so I never did.

Lately, I have been wearing this crochet hat that I picked up from h&m while in New York last month

It was my alternative to my preferred head gear: a scarf.

But very late last night I decided that I wanted to dye my hair black. For one, Spring is here even if it's currently 30 degrees outside and I really don't want to spend it wearing scarves and hats.

In years past, I would lighten my hair in the warm months and dye it black in the cold months.

My hair has been many shades of goldie brown.

And I even went red a couple of times. Not deep maroon red but a reddish brown because I feel that brown is always the best when it comes to my skin tone.

But since I haven't done the whole seasonal darker/ligher change in years,  it seemed almost appropriate that I am now totally flipping the script.

So I am back to black...

Evans UK Spring Lovin

This season my goal is to find pieces to add to what I already have. To not get too caught up in trends but to add a few pieces that I know I can wear for seasons to come.

And Evans has a lot of new items that I think I can do just that with.

Here are some of the recent pieces from their new Spring catalog that I am totally lovin.

I have seen a lot of sandals in this style lately but these are DENIM and I love that!

Sweet spring biker jacket. Love the color. Perfect.

And the back...nice details...funky zippers at the wrists.

Fun take on a long tank top.

Curvatude Fab Five: Why I Love Kiyonna

As you may or may not know, I am studying to create my own line of plus size fashion and the main reasons why is because I was tired of complaining about my fashion options and decided to do something about it.

Most of the companies that make or cater to the plus size woman just don't really get it.

And I wont even ask the obvious, like uh..are they really that oblivious?

Anyway, most of us, regardless of our age or size, want to feel attractive and good in our clothes and sadly you just don't get that loving feeling from a lot of what's out there.

One exception and there are several {finally} is Kiyonna.

I have always appreciated the fact that Kiyonna's founder, Kim Camarella-Khanbeigi seemed to understand from day one, that you do not need to dress in a box NOR do you have to have all of your goodies hanging out to look good.

The line has always been form fitting but relaxed. Colorful. Creative. Sexy yet sophisticated.

And while I Love Kiyonna and what they are doing, they are making my life difficult.

I am working on my own designs and I have to consciously make sure that I am not mimicking what they are doing but it is SOOO hard because they do a lot of the things that are so on point and staples for me.

Thanks Kiyonna {said very sarcastically}

LOL!

Anyway...

Making my design life harder or not, I like to give credit where it is due.

Here are Five Fab reasons why I love Kiyonna.

Figure enhancing, great colors. Varied options.

Love it!!

World Water Day & Earth Hour!

This is a good week to be a Citizen of the Planet {one of my favorite Alanis Morissette songs}.

Today is World Water Day and while I am pretty sure that most of us never give it much thought billions of people still need safe drinking water and toilets. {yes in 2010}

So, perhaps today as we stand at our sinks or in the shower under the warm wonderful water, we will for one, be grateful and two, take a moment to see how we may be able to help someone who can't.

Follow the World Water Day Twitter stream #WorldWater.

And to cap out the week, the 27th is the day Earth Hour takes place.

It is basically an hour where we, the people of this planet can take time to consider the effects of our electricity consumption by turning off the lights.

I normally celebrate this by unplugging everything in my home except the essentials, like the fridge and playing games by candlelight with my kid.

This year I am actually scheduled to attend a function during the "actual earth hour" but I will make up for it by hosting my own hour at home when I return for the evening.

Future so Bright I Gotta Wear Lots of Shades..

Since I am a collector of things, it should come as no surprise that I have a lot of sunglasses.

I rarely pay more than $25 for them because the last time I paid $250 for a pair of glasses they got stepped on and I vowed never to do that again.

Besides there are so many cool sunglasses out there that do not cost a mint.

I buy them all the time, so that I get to mix it up depending on my mood and outfit.

As you can see, the overall recurring theme is the bigger the better!

LOL!

Btw I am wearing the Espresso lip gloss from this post in these pictures.

Coming Out...In The Trenches

I currently own several trench coats, from solid colors to plaids and I have been patiently awaiting a little bit of warm weather so that I could start wearing them.

Recently it was warm enough that I could wear on with a sweater and a scarf, so I ran with it.

I wore the yellow Lands End trench that I got back in December {it's no longer on their website but I believe that I saw some in-store on major sale last time I was there}.

I love its vibrancy!

Here are some other trench coats in the stores that I am digging also.

I don't own a trench in a "traditional" color but I love the style and price of this one.

To me this coat represents grown up floral. {It also comes in solid colors}

I own a trench that is long like this but I don't actually wear it because i have had it for at least 15 years and it is made from a crinkly material that I am at the moment not feeling.

But I really like this one, especially in the color pictured, Dark Red {it also comes in two other colors}.

The print on this trench is wild yet the style is very structured. I love the cinched waist and the pleated bottom.

This shorter trench coat comes in really fun colors and materials, like this plaid and the denim.

I am really thinking about getting this one.

I love the french cuffs and threading on this denim one.

Another fun option is this zip front trench.

Almost all of these coats are either on sale or there are coupons on the sites.

This is the perfect time to buy a trench.
